Albion Alloys Tubes
Albion Alloys is great source for many very important modelers tools and materials but their nucleus present micro tubing. Micro tubing is the set of their products which present metal tubes of very small diameter. They are made of copper, brass nickel and last release present aluminum tubes. They deliver it as round and square shaped tubes. Wide range of diameters as well thin tube walls allow telescoping so this is excellent feature if you need to make landing gear.
Applications of this tubes are wide and it depend from personal needs up to the features for the particular plastic kit you are working on. Whenever you need strength and durable part Albion Alloys tube is the must. Also it is great replacement for pito tube or gun barrels as well it show nice hole. Few images in images gallery bellow show some of use. First image show Bf109G converted into night fighter and all radar aerials, such as those at the nose bottom are made from tubes, in this case telescoping was of great value to make realistic look. Second image show use of Albion Alloys aluminum tube for the in flight refueling probe and it is left in its natural color, no painting need. Third image present gun barrels on Hellcat. This three kits are in 1/72 scale. Next image present engine close up of the Lysander in 1/48 scale. Each container plastic package include from two to four tubes, depend of size. Larger diameter are two in pack, smaller are packed four inside. All tubes are of the same diameter, only aluminum coming in four different diameter. Tubes are easy to use and for cut you should need sharp razor blade. Method to cut is very simple, put blade on tube and then roll it few times, to make scar on surface. Then simply broke it on this line and you will get clean cut. But note that Albion Alloys also offer service to cut tubes in length you need.
There is one very interesting tool used for the tubes and this is bending tool. It coming in blue color and it can be use fro three different diameters of tube and you can make round bends of tube as well with some practice even full ring. As well diameters are a bit larger, it is possible to use it on larger scale plastic kits, you can make for example exhaust gases collector for radial engines. Very practical tool!
This tubes are excellent products no matter are you just want to make simple elements replacement on your kit or even to make full builds of some sections (old type of fuselage structure for example). Easy for handle, with little effort they provide top results on your kits! Top recommended!!!
