If you're certain you'll never use the decal sheet I'm interested in doing the Luftwaffe scheme. I'll email you later. I had been thinking hard about the Bulgarian machine but others have built it, too. The Soviet scheme is still attractive............. And then there was an RAF example. Too many choices!

I can't promise I'll find my loading chart as it might have ended up involved with a friend's estate. Either he or I had it last--I just can't remember.....

This model is looking great, and the interior colors look just right.

A B-24 usually carried twelve or less 500 pound bombs and the larger number only on short missions. If the kit provides eight, just hang two on each rack, one on the second-from top shackle and one on the second-from bottom shackle and assume they were flying a long-range trip. I have a bomb loading schedule chart somewhere in the attic that shows all of the possible combinations that could be carried.

Yes, I really like the oldies (sometimes). Three of my favorite childhood memories are building the original Fw 189, Hudson, and Ar 196. I still have a few pieces of the Ar and Hudson but I can't find any evidence of the Fw in my parts collection. Too bad, I wanted to incorporate a part or two of the original in this build.

No.1, I appreciate your offer of the decal sheet.

I had the airbrush out to paint the nacelle interiors on the B-17 project so I shot a coat of O.D. on the bomb trailer. I slid the tires on temporarily for the picture--they'll align corretly when we get to final assembly. I'm stalled on this until I can get to the hobby shop for Evergreen channel stock for the bed rails. No one was open this weekend because of the sloppy roads.

A quick update--I painted the inside of the #2 and #3 nacelles this morning, and the joining of the wing halves is at hand. These will be the first parts of the project to reach a stage where I can glue something together permanently.

Just so y'all don't think I put this back in storage, here is the first bulkhead for the aft fuselage. This one is a stiffener only. The next bulkhead forward will actually be visible from inside the fuselage. Then there are a pair of bellframes further forward. After all the bulkheads and frames are in place the former rings, stringers, floorboards, etc. can be installed.

I might be showing my age, but I built an original-issue Airfix Fw 189 when I was a youngster. I remember having been quite satisfied with my handiwork at the time but the model ended up ?????? Several years ago I purchased a large number of mostly unbuilt aircraft kits and there was a Fw 189 in the lot.

I'm open to suggestions as to markings. About the only thing missing in the kit when I opened it was the decal sheet, not that it would have been useable anyway.

The temperature was a bit warmer today so I was able to prime the seams that required filler. After priming, touching up missed areas, and re-priming I sprayed the red interiors of the wing flaps and NMF of the center-section flap. The A-24 I'm modeling was a very early machine and went down the production line with standard  SBDs. These first A-24s had the same red flap interiors and the black walkways on both wings that the Navy specified for their SBD-3s. Only the camouflage colors were to Army specifications. Even the propeller tips were the pre-war Navy red-yellow-blue stripe pattern.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, Draken35, but will the tracks be fairly easily built up? Even with all the ejector pin marks they are a great improvement over the vinyl tracks in the last armor kit I built. Having the droop built in is so nice.......

I've been watching the 1/48th scale armor releases for a while now. I built a couple of Tamiya Jeeps many years ago and even they have very good detail. If Tamiya releases a Chevy bomb truck I'll be ordering one!!!!!

I suppose I could start a new subject thread and link it to the NMF discussion. There isn't much to this build--I started with a Tamiya kit so there isn't a lot to talk about! I just glued it together and painted it--it was more of a NMF practice kit than anything.
