Aircraft Modeling / Re: Bf-109 Group Build-All Variants

Thanks, my friends!

Now that I've finished this first prototype I probably have at least one airplane from every important variation with the exception of the H. Someday I'll do a "family photo".

The prototype is now ready to place on display. Now that it's complete it felt right to photograph the very first Bf 109 with one of its last siblings. Hard to believe this one design could stay in production for so many years!

Shiny grey paint has finally found it's way onto the V1.....

Along my travels in model-building, I came across four military VW kits in an antique store. I think I paid about the price of a good bottle of beer for all four, two of which are Italeri and two are the oldest editions of Kubel and Schwimmer from Tamiya. None of the kits are really up to standard, but the two sand colored ones I just used to practice camo spraying and color selection for the Tiger that started this thread. I've never stopped researching Tiger 712 in the eight years since I started this thread, and it's pretty certain that a green/grey color was used along with the tan color on the early Tigers sent to Tunisia. With that in mind, I decided to mix up some color and spray different shades on the Kubel and Schwimmer. I'll study this some more and eventually will add the color I'm satisfied with on the Tiger.

You're right, Dinah was truly of this same shape!

An attractive machine, reminds me of the styling of the Bugatti Model 100 airplane.

Still an excellent rendering, mate.

Too bad someone never did a detailed drawing set back when the Spanish variants were still relatively easy to access.

The small Ingrid is finished but still needs to have a little suspension surgery. The rear of the car sits up too high and I need to lower it some, but thought I would show the finished product anyway. It's sitting on the real 1/1 Ingrid in the first two photos. :-cool

Thanks! This is one of those projects that I have wanted to complete for a long time. I hadn't thought the Jumo version had seen combat until I dug into the research recently. That revelation and the photo of this airplane really pushed me to go forward!

I'm going to post the picture of the real thing even though I don't know the original source. I apologize to whoever put the photo on the web.....

Here are some photos of the finished Jumo-Bf 110B. I forgot to mention earlier in the build that the propeller spinners are from the Airfix Bf 109E with some modification and the propellers are thinned down Fujimi parts from the kit. Decals came from the spares also.

This airplane flew during the Polish invasion with 2 ZG1.

I see the Tulsa Douglas plant every day--it's just south of the hangar where I work and I can see the huge doors where the finished airplanes came out if I look there! The kits came in the south end from the railyard and were assembled and came out the north end. Now the Douglas plant is used to build school buses.
