No.1, I may have a three-view but nothing really better than the one on the web. I'll see if there is any way I can find my information.

The profile is looking very nice!

This is another of those less well-known ships that I've always found very interesting. The glider-tow version flew in the opening act of the D-Day invasion but these crews got very little in the way of credit for their dangerous missions from the press or books.

There is still a LOT left to do on this one. I haven't even started on the main landing gear or the missiles.

The cockpit has now been repainted in the interior green color rather than my awful metallic blue. I studied a number of references and paint chips and decided that a faded olive drab seemed to match the color used by the Mitsubishi factory when this machine was built. After reassembling the cocpit to the fuselage the major components were mated and a bit of filler applied. This is a pretty nice fitting kit so not too much is really needed.

Now I'll get some primer on it and then start planning how to achieve the NMF I want to represent.

I shall post some pictures I took of the Ki-46 when I get home if you are interested.

Of course, we'd love photos, Paul!

I must agree that the Ki-46 is a beautiful design. I'm trying to think of a better shape from WWII but can't, though the Italians had some sleek machines.

You guys are making great progress. :-ok I'm not, but I promise to work on my Zero sometime this weekend. :-roll I filled some sink holes in the fuselage and cleaned up the glue joints on the wings but haven't had time for much more now that gardening/lawn care season is upon us. Right now we're going to do some 1/1 scale aviating and do an oil change afterward. It's annual inspection time.......

The sponge idea is GENIUS! :-cool I've always folded a small amount of paper towel or toilet paper and stuffed it into cockpit and wheelwell openings but the sponge will seal much, much better. Thanks for that tip, friend.

Great to see your work!

Could the second word be an abbreviation for Habicht? Also the two figures just below what may say "Curtiss" look somewhat like "75" which would also make sense. I'll look through all of my Curtiss photos (I just happened to find some material yesterday) to see if I can offer a more educated opinion on this.

The first word under the swastika sort of looks to be "Curtiss" but I can't make sense of the rest.

This little kit was quite a bit of fun to build. It dawned on me when I was putting the finishing touches on it that I was completing another modeler's project. Belated congratulations to the unknown first owner for his cockpit work.

Here is a photo of my friend's Crusader taken just before the flight to final storage at Davis-Monthan.  :( He told me that the crews cleaned and touched up the paint on the airplanes while inbound to the CONUS on board USS Hancock. They then launched for the final time from the carrier and flew to a ceremony ashore. That's when this photo was taken, just before the ferry hop to storage. You can read my buddy's name on the airplane on my original photo. He told me it was a very sad day for everyone involved with the F-8 to see them go.....

We've been talking on the Curtiss 75 thread about doing a GB of the Mohawk. Would June work so that draken35 can get his MustHave! review model finished?

Whew! I finally found mine deep inside a box......

Do we yet have a subject for June or July GBs? We could schedule the Mohawk for then so you could get the MustHave! kit done, or you could do it on a separate thread if need be.

I have been thinking about building a fixed-gear Hawk in Chinese markings but now I might be leaning toward this Dutch machine!  :-love What would everyone think of a P-36/Hawk Group Build later this year?

The factory photos of CW-344 show that the orange was opaque. I didn't use the white triangles on the silver wing bottoms as the orange is vivid, but the green shows through quite badly on the fuselage insignia without the backing.

If any of y'all get one of these MPM CW-21 kits be careful with the decal sheet. I practiced on a spare decal and found that it was rather brittle. I clearcoated the entire sheet before using. Also, the national insignia are not totally opaque and the darker color will show through. To fix that issue I simply cut triangles out of white decal sheet and applied these first, then the KNIL markings.

If I get a bit of free time I might get this finished this week.

Here's the version I'll be doing. It looked like this after being shipped to the U.S. and later was repainted with hinomaru markings as in No.1's picture.
