Hmm.....I just found a D-9 Weekend Edition on sale here in the States. I should have it next week so I'll be watching your build with great interest!

Here is an updated list as it stands right now.

July:           4 and 4+ Generation Jet Fighters, in progress.
August:       MiG 21
September: C.R. 42
October:     F-84 Family
November: ?
December: Armored Fighting Vehicles, with specific suggestion from draken for the Sherman tank in all its variety.

If I may make a suggestion--should we let November as an "open month" so that all the ongoing builds could have this extra time to be completed? It should be that we'll have good participation on all three upcoming builds and November would be a nice extra period to get them all done before the end of the year. Also, the AFV/MV build could be an open-ended thread like the Japan-Build so that we can contribute during a longer period. As always, comments and suggestions are welcome!

I was actually a little surprised at how good they worked! I had to roll them up a little to stay in the right contour but the "unsticky" adhesive worked fantastic. I'll probably be using more of this for NMF masking from now on.

This Otaki N1K1-J is the final complete model of a Japanese subject in my collection. I'll add it to the "assembly line" for the Japan Build. I think this one will get the full Letipapa/Profa toothpaste paint chipping procedure as some of these airplanes looked pretty rough after being in service a while.

Yes, Profa--I tried using magnesium color as a contrasting undercoat and it does exactly what you mentioned. I had already sprayed the first light blue coat on the fuselage when I thought of it so I masked and sprayed another coat of blue for the darker parts. I ended up using 3M "sticky notes" paper to mask with in order to not pull up the blue. It worked very well.

This will be fun to watch you build since I just experienced the "stock" version! :-clap

I just went out to the storage shed and unearthed (almost literally) this restoration project. I will clean it and survey for what to do. More later.....too many other things to do right now.

No Viggen in my stash too... Draken, Gripen, but that's all...

Hmm...... :-think a Saab-build, or an all-Swedish-build? There are many possible angles to go on such a GB......

I will try to find some kit in 1/72. But in Serbia,it will be hard. I already contact few model shops, and no one have Viggen,in any scale. :(
If you want join to me,you are welcome! ;)

I think I will have the same problem on this side of the Atlantic....I'll be keeping my eyes open though!

Happy hunting!

Sall,

If you wish to do a Viggen we'd like to see you start a new thread for it even if we can't do a GB. I don't build many jet aircraft but that airplane has always been at the top of my list to do. Perhaps I can find a kit in the future and we could build some!

I like Profa's splinter GB idea as that would give a lot of building options. So many ideas, so few months in a year!

True gem, bravo! :-ok
I also wanted to do this sample once (although didn't know the right colours until few days ago), but now I'm sure I'll do it as soon as I find the kit!

As per Viggen... nice plane, cammo more than interesting :-think ... count me in, once (don't have that kit either).  ;)

Here's a hint on the blue coating for your future build, Profa. I sprayed the entire surface with Metalizer and then applied varying densities of Tamiya clear blue over. On my next attempt I may use a normal silver enamel or lacquer as the undercoat as the blue doesn't adhere strongly to the Metalizer.

These big surgical procedures are always an adventure for the builder, too! At first it looks like the whole process will be impossible, but after getting it to the stage where No.1 has it you begin to see the final shape coming into focus. It's really quite exciting to see the contours starting to appear.

My desk is finally starting to have a bit of room since two projects were completed this weekend and that gave me a chance to start decaling the RAF-operated J2M3.
