No, actually it was the painter's fingerprint that caused me problems! On the last two F-106s that I painted I was holding the airplane in my hand while painting the topside and slipped a fingerprint onto the underside. This way will work better and it gave me a chance to see if my old ADC grey was still sprayable.

I've tried something new with this big Delta, painting the underside in the ADC grey first. I'll let this dry a few days and then start on the top. The last couple F-106s I built ended up with some "wet paint" issues on the lower part when I was painting the upper.

Yeah, the nacelle pieces are usually painted or not painted just depending on who is doing the maintenance on the airplanes. The dishpans (the ones you foiled) are usually a stainless steel color or even a little darker. I can't remember even seeing the pans from Texas Raiders when we were working on it but we kept the ones on Chuckie in their natural color. If we'd kept the airplane long enough, I was going to repaint the anti-glare panels and would have included that part of the dishpans just like the Vega painters did. It sort of bugs me that none of the OD airplanes paint the dishpans like they were originally, but it's easier to maintain them in bare finish.

This project is now at the painting phase, slowly but surely.....
Since there are so many interesting markings choices on the decal sheet I ended up flipping a coin between my two favorites. I'll build the other favorite choice with the next one.
