One of the most important Jabo workhorse was Fw 190 in its versions F and G. Start with sweep missions over Britain, its proven enough effective to continue this mission during the rest of the WW2. With series of various fighter machines of Fw 190, Eduard also delivered this fighter bomber version.

This kit is in 1/72 scale, stock code 70119 and the same kit is Fw 190F-8. As well it come as ProfiPACK edition, this mean that it include some extras inside, so apart from parts with plastic, inside is also two sheet of etched parts and mask for transparent parts.

Must say that this is more then easy to built kit, from very start, to the form with fuselage, wings and stabilizers finishes, pass few hours, I start work in the morning and after few breaks, late afternoon, it was mostly assembled. It is all thanks to the nice design of parts. For cockpit is two options provided, to use etched parts of plastic parts (as on weekend edition kits). Etched parts is also included in the wing landing gear bay, it make part of structure and appearance is nice.

Note that some of presented kits for final livery have not completed landing gear doors so it have to be trimmed. Two samples are with that feature, the one which presented machine from SG 2 which served in Hungary (a and in winter scheme) and the another one, from SG 10, captured late war in Czechoslovakia.

My decision for final scheme is the one from SG 10, captured in Ceske Budejovice (Budweiss). I know many photos of captured machines and this one did attract me with simple camouflage of one green color at the top. But when I take a look of photos, I noted that there is actually two colors. Other Fw 190F from the area also shown clearly two colors on fuselage. In the Horst serie published by French published Caraktere, was color profile shown this machine in two top fuselage color. This machines shown interesting features, fuselage in one type of painting, tail surfaces in other and wings completely another.

It is impossible to determine real colors from black and white photos so I decide to use some options for this kit. For tail surfaces I used colors RLM 74, 75 and 76; wings are RLM 75 and 82 at the top and RLM 76 on bottom; fuselage got coat of RLM 82 and patches in RLM 70 ( as well this color look so dark) but I think there can be used RLM 81 too. I contact my friend Jean Claude Mermet and his opinion is that top surface is one color, very possible wash out and fade out (therefore illusion of two colors) and I am grateful for his suggestions of colors of the kit. About this sample machine, Jean have one note: I should solely suggest that “K” letter and particularly “Winkel” may have been painted onto an older code hence the two colors at this location’.
