During January 2008 Eduard has realized an upgrade set FE 389 for their Messerschmitt Bf-108 Weekend edition kit in 1/48 scale. Inside of a recognizable Eduard plastic bag is one photo etched fret. Instruction sheet is perfectly clear and well illustrated. All parts are extra detailed and most part’s are pre-painted including seat-belts, buckles, instrument panel …

Set contains 28 parts mostly for cockpit interior with exception of two climbing handles for canopy exterior. Seat-belts are beautifully pre-painted and extra detailed as well as beautifully detailed instrument panel with instruments, switches and knobs on it.

Instrument panel has beautifully pre painted instruments and switches and it is highly detailed. It comes in two parts; the first one is with instrument displays and other with instrument panel exterior. Some bars and handles are to be attached on instrument panel during assembly process. Assembling the Seat-belts takes the most time but once you finish them, the result is great. Messerschmitt Bf-108 is a type of the plane that has four seats (depending on the use) and a large canopy so on the kit with closed canopy seat belts are clearly visible and this excellent Eduard’s set improves the reality of the kit.

Eduard has provided two type’s of central console which is located between pilot and co-pilot instead of one originally in the kit so you can choose according to available documentation which one to use for your kit. Throttle handle and trim chains are located on the left side of the cockpit; trim chains are prepainted and highly detailed. Throttle handle is given in a form of one uncolored photo-etched part and it should be upgraded with one small piece of plastic cylinder.

Eduard’s photo-etched set FE 389 includes all parts that are really missing on the Bf-108 Weekend edition kit. These parts are great quality and they provide excellent opportunity to a modeler to build extra detailed kit with a small effort. At last, but most important they are easy to work with, so less experienced modeler should not have any trouble. Working with these part’s will save your time and add to your model much needed realistic look

This set is highly recommended.

Darko Mladenovic I am 31 years old and live in Belgrade, Serbia. I've been modeling for about 15 years, on and off. While I'm happy to build anything, my interests lie primarily in 1/48 scale aircraft. I concentrate on WW2 subjects, although I'm also interested in WW1, early Jet Age and commercial aviation. Since my early days I have build over 150 models but also had a break for about 7 years without modeling. Before my break I was attending all the modeling contests in Serbia and won a quiet few prizes, I was also a referee on modeling competitions in Serbia. Currently I am working on my diploma at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering at the University of Belgrade at the department of Air Transport and Traffic Engineering.
