I've begun that kit some days ago but awaited a little bit before posting...
Lot of work to do on that kit to obtain a Belgian aircraft.
The box contains two kits. I gived one to Dominique Jadoul, keeping the other for me...
4 decorations are proposed: 2x US Navy, 1 USAAF and of course 1 Belgian bearing the US civil registration NX-56B.
It's short run but parts are nice.

First operation: the Belgian Buffaloes didn't have a window on the bottom of the fuselage. The clear part was sanded carefully and glued in place. That part will be painted in alu, like the undersurfaces.
I added seatbelts (made with Tamiya cache) and created a pitot tube. The pitot on Belgian aircrafts was particular...
And finally I created the element that will come behind the pilot's seat...

After that sitting, agood beer was needed!  :))

The Rafale M #27 received a special deco for the Tigermeet 2014.
Syhart Decals released a decal sheet (1/48, 1/73 & 1/144 scale) for tha aircraft (ref 48/079, 72/079 or 144/079 depending of the scale).
Of course, I will use some goodies from Retrowings (cockpit detail set ref 44040).

The only problem with the Revell kit is the lack of the 1250L reservoirs. My friend Dominique Jadoul gived me the ones from the Trumpeter kit...

Miscellaneous Subjects / USS L(egg)xington
« on: July 12, 2017, 09:40:41 AM »
A little bit of fun. This time it's not an egg plane but an egg ship!
Meng released this year the USS Lexington in a comic style; I've bought that kit during the Brno expo, Czechia.
Kit is conceived for young modelers; no glue is needed (well... better to use glue for some parts IMHO)...

Miscellaneous Subjects / Horse head: Ponpon

A very cute friend of mine  :-love asked me to make for her the head of her daughter's horse...
Here are the first steps...
Firstly:  with miliput, filling of gaps and other defaults

I cannot wait with this one (photo 1), I've to build it quickly  :-love

After having washed the parts into water + soap, I've removed the flash on the parts, sanded a little bit on some places and then I've carefully examinated the easy way to build and paint the kit.
Having made some fitting trials, I've concluded that the best way to do is to make sub-assemblies.
On photo 3 you can see that some rivets were missing; I made new ones with 3D tissue paint.
The pilot (photos 7 to 9) is really pretty with a nice face  :-love

The fittings tests revealed some problems when positioning the pilot... I resolved the problem removing the gas controllers and creating new ones (photo 9)

OK, ready for primer...  :))

Miscellaneous Subjects / How to restore... Souvenir from Chichen Itza
« on: April 30, 2017, 03:01:23 PM »
A friend of mine visited Mexico and came back with that little souvenir.
Unfortunately she broke them... She asked me if it was possible to repair it.
So, I used miliput to fill the missing matter and after that repainted the souvenir...

Aircraft Modeling / XF5U-1 Flying Flapjack
« on: April 20, 2017, 08:38:31 PM »
As said otherwhere, I've stopped all my current builds "in progress" to begin (soon) a project that will need for long time.
More than that: those last times I had no time for our hobby: professional work, theatre and the bad health of my mother were time consuming...

Anyway, I wish to build a conventional kit in parallel with my project. I've chosen the 1/48 Flying Flapjack from Kittyhawk - I will build a what-if.

First photos: kit parts

Aircraft Modeling / New project: Renard Epervier (full scratch)
« on: April 20, 2017, 08:24:51 PM »
Soon, I will start a new and totally crazy project...

Hope to begin at last during july 2017!

I've put all my "in progress" builds back on the stash. Only one "conventional" build will be made in parallel with the current project.

I think I'm definitively crazy...  :-danger :-danger :-danger

Aircraft Modeling / "Cute" Spitfire Vb (Tiger Model)
« on: December 10, 2016, 07:15:50 PM »
Here is another very nice "cute" aircraft from Tiger Model: the Spitfire!

Parts are very nice; the only problem of those kits is the presence of big "plots" on the inner side of the canopy...
I will add the Retowings detail set (I'm the creator of that set, seatbelt excepted that was made by Dominique Jadoul)

This is a little kit with 21 parts only.

Th econcept of the kit is quite intriguing for me due to the fact that it's almoste impossible to paint the kit when fully assembled...

So weird that I've decided to begin it...

This bust was bought at Telford (from Elan13) and will be used to test the flesh oil paint set from Abteilung 502.
First step: sanding, than primer and little corrections.
Ready for a new primer now...

Miscellaneous Subjects / Octavia
« on: November 05, 2016, 11:45:47 AM »
Well, having finished the figure for my CorsEarth and as I want to give another try to the Abteilung 502 Oil Flesh set, I will begin a new one: a Roman woman at bath.
I've decided to name her Octavia. Why? She was the sister of the first Roman Emperor Augustus and more than that, I've seen the Rome serie on TV and found so cute the actress interpretating Octavia...  :-love

First stage is preparation. Figure was sanded and the original base (very poor) was replaced by a home made one: Evergreen and Miliput.
Figure is placed on a work base (the cap of an aftershave bottle...)

Aircraft Modeling / Curtiss P-40 Warhawk (Eduard 1/48)
« on: October 15, 2016, 04:32:51 PM »
So, I've bought that kit at very attractive price last week during the IPMS Belgium national expo...

I'm too tempted to begin it, so let's have some fun (I hope...)

The kit is from Mauve, with usual Eduard add-ons like resin parts and photoetch elements.

First work is to assemble some elements...

Aircraft Modeling / BATPLANE 1941 (Retrowings 1/72)
« on: September 17, 2016, 10:19:06 AM »
So my friend Dominique Jadoul just realised a new kit: Batman's aircraft!

Yes indeed, in 1941 Batman owned an aircraft, inspired from the P40.

The kit is not available yet on RetrokiT site but that will be imminent. I have to build the kit in priority for Dominique so he can use photos for the boxart...

I must say I'm impressed by the quality of the kit. And, for a resin kit, you can find a clear plastic canopy, not a vacuformed one!

First work: after having washed the parts into a bath of water with soap, I have removed the resin carrots.
The resin is agreable to work with and fitting seems good.

delicate moments were to remove the resin excess into the cockpit and under the floor, but with patience and being careful, you will have no problem at all...
