Aircraft Modeling / Re: Belgian Mirage 5 (Wingman 1/48)

Slowly restarting the work...

I've placed the Scaleworx part for Mirage III CZ (but also correct for Belgian Mirage 5). Not fitting perfectly; I've tried to correct the part but broked it... Not a real problem; all is in place now; It just needed a little bit of putty (AK gray putty used).
I've also used Vallejo putty and, like for the 1/72 PJ kit, added a louve (made from sprue and evergreen) on the left side of the fuselage.

Still busy with the PJ kit...
Little work but important one: the Mirages 5 "late" had a little part on the left side of the fuselage that is not present in the box kit...
Made with Evergreen.

I had similar problem with the Renard. Maybe the Alclad is a little bit too thick on the location it was removed...

I've tested new (at least for me) products: for the wash, Flory Models. You apply generously the wash on the kit; let dry 15-20 minutes; then you remove the product with a humid shovel. Product remains on the interpanels.
Good one, but to remove all the excess you have sometimes to start the process again and I've constated that the Pébéo varnish is somewhat fragile (not the first time I see that but this time it was really annoying).

I've also tested AK Aluminium pencil: great! Easy to use and excellent rendering; better than with paint and paintbrush.

Then I've airbrushed matt varnish. Trying to correct an excess of varnish, I've also had problems: varnish was removing ("peeling") from the kit (not visible on the photo; just under the cockpit port side around the number 6)...

So, I've decidde to finish the kit without more weathering. I think I will use AK Real Color varnishes in the future...

Well, anyway the most important thing was that I've built that kit to test AK Real Colors and, on this point, it's successful! I'm really pleased by that new gamma of paints  :-love

Hard work with one of the Renards...

First, for both kits I've added the position light (have forgotten to do that on my first kit; after  the comments of a Belgian friend I've corrected that).
Then, the Renard 31 #31 will be represented as broken so I have surgery to do and some details to add...
