The pics I took at NMNA this weekend are now posted to my Photobucket account at:

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/1003/m60tc/

A couple of notes,
1. This thing is really BIG!
2. All interior shots are of the gunners location taken by holding the camera and clicking without aiming.
3. There are 3 rectunglar silver patches on the L/E of the wing, and the NMNA folks don't know why the 3 holes are on the wing. One of the pictures has a mans hand on one of the patches covering the hole. If you look at one of the interiors of the gear wells you can see a black block with a bolt and nut on the center. this is nothing more than a holder for the patches and is not functional.

Enjoy

Have the SBC-3 & 4 in my to build stack. Been really busy on areas other that modeling. I'll probably have to build something like a Tamy Spit or Has Hurricane to get back in the grove when I do.

I find as I get older my interest in aircraft is toward the little known, aircraft of the late 30's and early war years., Aircraft like B-18, F3F, SOC, N-3PB, SNC, B534, and the Hampton will definately get my interest. Another bf109, Ho, Hum. Now something new on a Ju86 or He100, well I'll definately be reading that. BTW some great pics on the Northrop N-2PB on Hyperscale today.

Combat Warplanes / Re: Chromate color on Navy planes
« on: August 28, 2006, 05:02:22 AM »
Spar varnish was applied to the prop as protection giving them a slight yellow-brown color. A tinted clear would work on a model. AFAIK the USAAF used maroon for about 2/3'ds of the back of the prop, but I haven't seen anything on this for Navy aircraft. Others may know more.
