So, here is it: the first "full aircraft" from Retrowings!

The kit has 27 parts, two of them being clear ones (canopy).

The fuselage is in one element, as are the wings. All the elements are finely engraved. At that scale, the seat is particularily finely detailed with the seatbelts.

There is a decal sheet for an aircraft of the VA-12.

I must say I have no negative criticism against the kit; all is absolutely perfect and it will be a dream to build it.

There is no instruction sheet, just a color view of the aircraft; but all is self-explanatory and there will be no difficulty to obtain a nice jewel...

Of course, it's one of my next build...

Ground Forces / NEW!!! "Retrotracks" Char T13 Type III (1/72)
« on: April 09, 2011, 03:11:31 PM »
I've presented here my build of a T13 Type III:
http://www.letletlet-warplanes.com/forum/ground-forces/belgian-t13-bycicles-and-chasseurs-ardennais/

The master was made long time ago by Dominique Jadoul for another producer; but Dominique was not satisfied of his work. Must be said that after he realised that tank, he found a lot of documentation with, amongst other things, a plan of that tank!

So Dominique Jadoul planned to do a new master. Well, it's done now, I saw Dominique today at the Wavre expo in Belgium and he gived me an exemplar of his new baby.

Enough to say that, from the 17 parts of the old one, we have now... 49 parts? Yes, sure! But some explanations, it's better...

The chassis is no more made with two elements but only one; but more accurate as you can see on the photos. All the traps, etc were corrected and are similar to the real tank. The engine is no more visible as it was the case on the original tank.

For the turret, there are two options: "closed", or "open" as the difference can be seen on some photos.

OK, now I have to find the time to build this one, and to make a diorama with Belgian Cyclistes Frontières, and perheaps a farmer with his horse...

The famous Belgian 47mm gun is more detailed and you have also the support part.

But was is really impressive is the tracks and wheels: the old box contained only two pieces; the new one is far better detailed with correct tracks, separate wheels (at least, grouped by two, barbotins, etc.)

and another "plus":

The forms and dimensions of that new T13 are absolutely perfect. It's really a must!!!

Yes, but too dark on my taste...

I think I will let as it is, because that Spad is made for a group build on a French forum and time is short now before the end of that GB...

The second side of some elements. I don't know actually if I will let all as is, or remove paint and give a new try...

Yes, next one will be a jet: the F-86K Sabre Dog. And others will follow...

MustHave! is the new label created by Philippe Jourdan, formerly the big boss of Hi Tech. Hi Tech was sensational because offering rare birds (like Roland D.II, Voisin, Breguet XIV, Sopwith Snipe & Salamander...) but was "short run"-made.

MustHave! is definitively more "professional" made and if that first kit is an amelioration of the existing H75, you can wait for totally new and stunning kits!!! I know some of the future releases but it's top secret and, as we say here in Belgium: "I will shut up in all languages"...

I received today my exemplar of the Mohawk (Thank you, Philippe!!!)

Here is a presentation of that kit:

The boxart

What you'll find in the box: plastic parts, resin and photoetched parts

The plastic parts are those of the Hobbycraft Curtiss H75. Nothing to say, this was a nice kit.

What is completely new are the resin and photoetched elements:

Cockpit interior, flaps, tyres...

...A splendid engine...

...And the PE: seat, seatbelts, elements for flaps & engine, etc.

The instructions are made clearly, in four pages

Then, the painting guide for 4 decorations. My only regret is that there is no reference to some paints like Humbrol, Tamiya, Gunze...

And the decal sheet, very nice:

I hope to begin that build soon, but for personal reasons, not before may...

Thank you mates!

What to say about the building and painting of a tank? Well... It's just different from an aircraft, but not so simple if you wish your build will not be considered as a toy...

After the KV-1, I will build a 1/35 Staghound. The work was begun and you'll see that it's not really a piece of cake.

The wash is made with "Wash Brown" from "Abteilung 501"; I've also glued the tracks.
