Weathering is finished I think... I've used black aequous pencil, and MiG pigments (dark mud)

Now that the Hellcat is finished, I can work on all my MiG's!!!

I've removed the parts from sprue, chosen the decos and the armament for each aircraft.
Decos: one will be East German, with open canopy; the second one will be Russian (with closed canopy)

The parts are very fine and tiny. So tiny that I've broken the canopy of the "Russian"... Reparation was made of course but it's slightly visible (not too much given the size) - I have to insist of the fact that Eduard is not responsible, I'm guilty...

To be noted that the nose antenna is provided in two exemplars (four for two kits). Good idea because to remove it from sprue asks for attention and patience (I've not broken those antennas; having broken one canopy some minutes ago let me very careful) ;)

To be inattentive is often my speciality, mate...

Yes mate, but I have time for that. I'm not so far from completion, but other workbenches will have priority and will start this week: the tiny MiG-21 and the not-so-tiny MiG-29 ;)

Thank you Sall!

I have begun the weathering with pastels and ink.

I used Tamiya pastels for the locations where the pilot and mechanics manipulate the aircraft. Not really visible on the photos, but well on the kit ;)

The ink: Citadel Colors Brown Ink. Used for the "pissing oil"... Some photos show that the Fokker D.VII was a big oil consumer, and that oil pissed on the fuselage. I applied drops of ink, than I used Q-tip to expend the oil... I like the final result, that gives life to that aircraft.

Weathering to be continued...

I have also placed the exhaust pipe and the machineguns.

Jicéhem, thanks for the tip, I will take it into account when I will build the FAA version...

The finish line...  ;)

Today I've first used Tamiya pastels for the smoke fumes: black for the guns; and for the exhausts I first used black then what Tamiya names "Rust" and that is in fact a nice brown. The brown is very useful; he avoids the black to be too dark and too "hard". And gives a more realistic result...

After that I painted clear varnish on the position lights; then glued the rockets (simply with a drop of clear varnish!); the wheels; the canopy (mobile part); the propeller and finally the mobile panels of the ammo box.

My daughter Mathilde helped me grandly giving me one of her beautiful very dark hair, that served for the antenna...

... And yes, it's finished now!!!

Well. I LOVE it. Eduard realised a fabulous kit, easy to assemble, fun to build. I'm really impatient to see their release of the 1/72 FAA Hellcat; that will be another great moment.

Of course, an article will follow soon  :))
