Warplane Art / Felixstowe F.2A MLD
« on: June 06, 2020, 05:51:26 PM »
At the near end of WW1 a Felixstowe F.2A serial N4451 made a crash landing at Noordwijk in The Netherlands. The plane was confiscated by the Dutch Military. It got the designation L1 and was handed over to the MLD. The MLD never flew with it due to the end of the war. It was send back to the RNAS. Here is the profile.

The last one in the series of White & Thompson. This one was armed with a Lewis gun. On observation-mission along the Belgium Coast during WW1

Here is the original version of the White & Thompson No 3 from No 1 Sqn RNAS - pilot FLt D.G. Murray, which was captured.

I examined the photos again of the van Berkel WB and I saw that the fuselage had to be straightened. So here is a more accurate example :-red

The Van Berkel W-B was a single engine Dutch long range reconnaissance seaplane built in the early 1920s for work in the Dutch East Indies. Six were operated by the Dutch Naval Aviation Service (MLD) with disappointing results,
The WB floatplanes had flutter and stability problems, though the last two were not decommissioned until 1933.

There are no profiles or line-drawing images from the van Berkel WB. So in making a profile I used photo’s from IPMS Nederland and the color schemes from KW Jonker’s website and drawing from the Hansa-brandenburg W29.
