Here's a small update on the Messerschmitt with a product review thrown in. No.1 sent me this Ultimate Weathering Wash some months ago and finally I got a chance to try it. I highly recommend this!!!! I experimented with drying times and wiping methods to achieve different effects and everything went great! More later, time is short right now....

So, I first tried to use this on a different kit but I had already flat-coated the model and it didn't work quite right. I followed your method here and I am impressed!!

While having a cup of coffee I will give y'all my version of using the Ultimate Wash (sorry, no photos yet). I followed the manufacturer and Srecko's instructions and sprayed the machine with my favorite gloss coat and let it dry. Then I liberally brushed the Wash over everything. Ultimate recommends waiting thirty minutes before wiping, but (of course) I couldn't wait to try some exploring so I used a dry towel to brush off some of the residue after five minutes. I was able to keep the wash in the panel lines and remove it from flat surfaces with no problem. Then I reapplied and waited about fifteen minutes for it to dry, then more with a damp towel and it makes excellent streaking effect! It took some practice to find out the right dampness and pressure to use, but this product is superb! Since I still use enamels and lacquers for my base finishes this water-based product is so easy--if I don't like an outcome I simply wet it and wipe it clean, then reapply. Highly recommend that everyone try this!!!

Here are a few photos of this KG-51 Hornisse. As for the Ultimate Wash, I didn't over-do the effects as I was intending to show the airplane as it looks in the photo I have, not overly weathered and beaten-up.

In summary, this old Revell kit went together pretty well (the canopy does require extra planning and careful execution) and I truly enjoyed the build. I even was able to use the kit decals with no problems at all, though some service stenciling was not provided. Special thanks to our Jicehem for steering me in the right path regarding the fuselage band! :-salut

Thank you, mate!

I am partial to building either a formation destroyer with underwing rockets or one with the great cannon in the nose--so another of these will someday grace my project stack!

Hello,

Simply beautiful !

I'm glad to see it built because I got one kit years ago and it is always in its box...

Thanks, mate!

Yes, mine sat in the box for quite some time before I started it also! I confess that I don't build the larger airplanes as often as I once did because I've run out of display space.
