Bf 109G-6 late Trumpeter 1/32
« on: August 09, 2015, 10:14:06 AM »
Not a fan of big scale kits but this is order so... huge box with nice art, very nice. Mixed media kit and rubber are real rubber. Only problem I have note is that engine must be built in order to assembly kit and place spinner, no matter are you going to close or open cowling.

I built a couple of 1/32 fighters many years ago but never had space to keep them! Also one of the HUGE 1/24 Ju-87s, too.....I really liked that one but gave it to a friend for display.

Space is main point in this kits and as well large scale kits are in expansion, I wonder who buy them and where store them?

I like what I am seeing! I notice something on this engine that is lacking on virtually every engine, kit or aftermarket---a splined propeller shaft! I've got to machine my own prop shaft for an engine change diorama that I have planned and I've often wondered why someone didn't mold the splines on a kit part. Now they have!

Many years ago a friend of ours forecast that large-scale kits would someday become big business. His reasoning was that many of us that are heavily involved in building are getting older and that the eyesight and fingers naturally lose their "touch" with advanced age. When he advanced this theory he was in his upper sixties and had long before given up on 1/72 scale. 1/48 was beginning to become a challenge for him and he was looking forward to 1/32. The only drawback, in his eyes, was that the larger scale would be too expensive for the average person to afford and that people would be confined to less and less models as they got older.

Not a fan of big scale myself, but kit sounds good... And the beginning of your work is excellent!

Good point, this one is so easy to built, even buttons on instrument panels are provided. It have some sense tis relation of scale and age. Thank you for comments friends :)

Hello :-salut

Great job, mate. Tecnnically, this kit seems to be very good but some details are not satisfactory such as the compressor air scoop resembling the one of Bf 109 F's DB 601 E...

I read the words upon scale kit and age, and I surely am not "standard", because when I was younger I built generally 1/48 scale kits and now, being an old man, I build easily 1/72 scale kits... Maybe because I'm wearing spectacles for a very, very long time.

Jicehem,

I agree about the wearing of spectacles--I've used them for years and still enjoy small details! (Though photoetched parts sometimes get lost in the carpet monster......)
