From our previous reviews, you have realized that Brengun have some of excellent products related to aircraft modeling but their range of products is much wider and among them they also manufacture naval related kits. We present here the BK-2 Soviet river patrol boat.

The scale of this kit is very interesting for me, being produced in 1/72. Almost the entire kit is made of resin. This kit has the stock code HLP72014 and comes in a small box. Content is simple, a few plastic bags with resin parts, one sheet of etched parts and very simple and good assembly leaflet.

Parts are well made, a great sample of modern tool design. Since this is not a very big subject, the entire boat body is given as one part. I was not careful and I removed it from the mold base with some scars at the bottom so I needed to fill it and sand it. Note- this is the result of my mistake, the kit is very precise and demands no filler!!! On the top of the boat body comes the cockpit, also in one piece and it fits into place very well. It has at the top a hole where you have to insert the turret with machine gun. This is given very simply, the turret and gun barrel just needs to be cemented into the slot and adjust angle. This whole section then goes into the hole, you can fix it or leave free (to allow rotating if you prefer that). In the outer cockpit, you need to place one storage box and machine gun mast. On the door is a handle, made of an etched part.

On the bottom not many elements need to be added, just the propeller shaft, propeller and the rudder. They are all made of resin. Please note that these are tiny and sensitive parts so I recommend you to assembly stand for boat and continue build with boat kit placed on stand. More small parts need to be placed on the top and this is just a few etched and resin parts on the front and rear hull. The kit includes an etched frame to be mounted at the rear section of boat but I did not use it as I did not see it on archive images of the boat.

I sprayed a coat of black primer and soon after drying I sprayed a coat of red paint at the kit bottom, anti foliage paint. Next to do is grey color and I sprayed it but first have protected line and area of bottom red color. Final detail is to spray small BK-2 letters on the hull. The kit has a great etched metal template which is easy to use. Final work presents painting the propeller brass, adding the machine gun at rear side and life belt on hull. And this is it!

This is a very easy kit to be built with great options to upgrade and modify. Very precise parts and easy assembly make this kit welcome to fans who like history of river boats. You can have your sample here!

Great thanks to Brengun for providing sample kit for review.
