If you need some doc, don't hesitate to contact Didier Waelkens: he was C130 pilot...
-
Thank you :) All right, I will think about ;)
-
Good selection! Another subject with almost unlimited markings options.
I have one of the big 1/48 Herks in storage with the plan to eventually build it as a very early short-nosed NMF bird.
-
I would like to see that build Scott! It would be great! :-tri
Scott talk about markings.. With which markings will you draw it Srecko? :-tri
-
1/48 Hercules? You will need whole year to make if you decide to left cargo doors open. Any markings Sall...
-
Panels work, still not completed.

:) No, I wasn't planning on being that energetic, just keep everything closed! The fuselage is HUGE on that kit, just like its 1/1 brother.
-
All right, hope you will find time one day for this kit :)
-
Nice work Srecko. ;)
Also,i hope you will build that kit one day. I would like to see it,here on forum. :-flo

Here's a couple of pictures of the size of a 1/48 Hercules, with Bf 109s to give a sense of scale:

How about a LC-130 of VXE-6? Very nice looking aircraft and unusual with the skis. If I can ever find them I have a bunch of pictures of one.
Ernie
-
I watched on show on "Explorer" or "History" about LC-130. Great plane! :-ok
-
Yes, I will have to try to find my pictures, I have a 1/72 C-130, an OLD Micro Scale decal sheet with the markings, and a resin ski conversion :-clap All I need is time and my photos :-/
Ernie
-
Maybe we can organize C-130(and his variation) Group Build! :-eek :)) :))
-
Sure :-ok
Ernie
-
Just to complete this basic layout and I guess we have unlimited area for color profiles. Well- maybe this is idea for set of profiles in Warplanes?
-
:-ok I think it woukd make an interesting set of profiles; there are many users of this aircraft all around the world.

How about one of the eight Libyan Hercs that have been in storage at the Marietta, Georgia Lockheed plant since 1972? Here's a link to a bit of the story and a photo of four of them:

-
I also vote for Libyan C-130! :-ok They have interesting life... :-wall
-
I did not have idea about this machines, any close ups for their letterings? And I will finally continue today work on profile
-
I'll try to find further information on the stored Libyan airplanes. Somewhere? I have seen other photos that might show the lettering and other markings.
-
Me to. I think i know where i can find them. I will contact you when i get home. ;)
-
All right friends, waiting for you ;)
-
Okay, I found one of the sources. This link is for the first one, constructor number 4515, and it is a photo of her when brand new.
http://www.herkybirds.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=7834&c=23
The others can be searched in the same gallery. Their constructor numbers are 4518, 4523, 4525, 4536, 4538, 4540, and 4541.

I am wonder did they ever get plain green markings?
-
I am wonder did they ever get plain green markings?
I very much doubt it since they were never delivered. At some time the U.S. government (the "owners", Lockheed is only storing them) painted out the insignia. That's why nothing is visible on the more recent photos. These eight airplanes are really what might be called "political prisoners" of a sort, I suppose. They're full of spares and support equipment, also.
-
As well they were never delivered, they are not subject of primary interest. So this will be considered later. Now my last work on type, I will have to search for some close up images as well this huge airplane have a lot of elements on its airframe.
-
Yes, a lot of details on such a big, fat airplane!
-
:-ok

Stinks to see them deteriorating, doesn't it? The story is that the total flight hours among all eight is less than 100 hours. People I know who have examined the four parked in the grass said they would be good for parts only--too much deterioration and corrosion from forty years of sitting in Georgia. I hate to see the old girls rotting away.
-
Nice job as usual No1.Another option you might concider is the well known 170.000 hours aniversary scheme that have been logged by the Hellenic Air Force's C-130 Hercules squadron. The perfect occasion for a special tail depicting Greek God Hercules himself on the airplane that bears his name.
I have the decal sheet set and planning to finish my 1/48 italeri "giant" one day(I have also spent many hours in that type)
