Dear all
After having test all Photoshop possibilities , I have begun a serious work on Fw 190D-9. Yesterday I spent all day , doing the layers with the shpae of differents sub-assembly of the machine , fuselage , engine wings , rudder , tail ....
separate mayers alos cover the wheels , the rudder , the canopy .and so on ...
It is too long to describe all layers ...
Now I concentrate on the canopy , not less than 5 layes are used to represent this part .
layer 1 Shape of the canopy frame
layer 2 Shape of the amour plate
layer 3 panels lines and details (bolts ..)
layer 4 weathering .
layer5 shadows and highlights
I will show you other seaprate parts of the drawing when finished , I have few time betweeen my family life , my third book, my job ...
Hope you like it

Many thanks for the comments
I am not fully satisfied by the rudder , looks to new for me :-/
I will update when all parts will be drawn .
I will begin this evening the tail , there are 3 different panel layouts for the stadard tail , for this drawong I will represent the most usual one used fot the aircraft I want to depict .

Hmm....I am unable to view any images in this thread.
Do I need to enable any settings in my profile before I can view the images?
-
Strange- I will check out and see where is the problem.... have you check out your firewall in the meantime?
-
Just check out- it is all correct, you have permission to see attachments. Larger have similar complain but he solve the problem.

The visible rivets are darker than the one less visible on photos .
The shadows and higlight are not done

This is excellent!!!

Bravo @Larger :-clap :-clap :-clap

-
Hello
it is 23:30 time to sleep . 3 hours on the computer this evening for this drawing
1 hour during lunch time for writing the third book .
I think I have done enough for today .
Camouflage test to check the highlights on the rear fuselage
Give me your comments
eric
-
Very good! Try to make this stroke with pen too ;)
-
Hello Srecko
I used both pen and paintbrush , this is the first stages after representing all rivets .
For the rivets what do you suggest ? I made them with a round form - pen - 39 to 45% but this layer as no external light on contrary to the layer with the line panels . One side should be highlighted and one in the shadow (very thin) . Do you suggest to diffuse a little bit more the rivets ?
When all riveting , panel lines and rivets will be done on all parts I plan to make a camouflage painting test , to verify that the highlights and shadows are not too much exagereted , is it a good method ?
I will try to to use your method to make bare metal extension plug and wings undersrfaces . I have an incredible number of layers now ! 35 or something like that !
Eric
-
Rivets are excellent! You have used pen for make it- perfect! Lets use it for shadings too- choose some size of brush and some transparency. When you go to brush stroke check the button Use Pressure. And it will work perfect. I will try to make one small visual guide for this.
-
Ok
here are the highlights only done with pen
Eric
-
Thats much much better. Now try to give much more length. One trick- start path from tail and let it go over fuselage and out in white space out of airplane shape. Select fuselage and then apply stroke path. You will see results. I made all in that way.

Hello
H a day's progresses
The camouflage scheme is not real just to chrck the highlighs and shadows
Your comments a wellcome
Eric
-
You have understand the point and learn fast!!!
:-clap :-clap

Dear all
Here are the drawing , now with it engine cowling ... It is the most diifficult part to draw , because of the air intake ... The exhaust are not finished , but I will do it later , it is a separate layer .
All comments are wellcome
Eric

Nice work :-clap :-wave
-
I really like your work...
This Dora looks great :-ok

Very good detail Eric, well done :-ok
-
Dear All
This is all for this evening
complement parts of the engine cowling
Eric
-
Few progress tonight
the radiator covers finished and the cooling flaps unfinished (missing rivets and shadow highlight)
I gave a patchy appearance , with several replacement parts , When all panels , lines , rivets will be finished , I will present you a real machine , always depicted in the wrong markings , I got brand new photos of it .
All the best
Eric
-
Overall look is very good!
-
I agree with No.1 :-ok bravo Eric :-clap :-wave
-
Many thanks for these comments .
Now after finishing the radiator flaps , I will begin the wings lines and panel layers , another long run .
An then all details , before depicting real machines .
Eric
-
When you get all this finished and when you claim it is finished I will say- No it is not! Then I will introduce you and the rest of the forum friends about some post production finishing tips :-cool
-
Yes it will be wellcome .
The next important step will be also the markings ... Stencils and all ....
Eric
-
No no no- after all is finished coming post production. So when you make it all then coming few new layers and few techniques and brushes regularly used for landscape paintings or painting faces...
-
Dear all
This evening's progress .
Radiator flaps finished , spinner and exhaust pipes . Tomorrow perhaps the propeller or the horizontal tail plane .
it is 22:41 and in the match between France and Serbia , France leads 2 goals to 1 .
all the best
Eric
-
Well done about flaps and will see about the game ;)
-
very nice work :) :-wave
-
Dear all
today , the horizontal tail plane , including stabilizator and the coverplate rivetes to the fin .
Nothing realy diffficult , the most isteresting part was the shadows og the stabilizator on the lower part of the tail .
Eric
-
You are one of the best student I have seen ;)
-
Many thanks No 1
but I don't think I am one of the best , I try simply to use my knowledge and skill , of pencil drawing ,and scale model building.
Busy week-end , with outside works in the garden and parties by friends so I do not had a lot of time to work on my project .
Here is the Fw 190D-9 with her wings. The riveting is not finished as well as the showdows and highlights .
I think that this view enables you to understand the way I proceeded with the drawings , to be able to depict or not each elements of the aircraft .
The lower part of the landing gears are nor belonging to this layer , as several versions existed as well as several painting schemes.
I hope to be able to finish the wings tomorrow or Wednesday .
All the best
Eric
-
looking nice :-ok good job Eric :-clap :-wave
-
Precise work, lets see what the shading will bring :)
-
Yes Srecko
Before I have to represent all rivet lines , and there are a lot under the wings !
I have also 5differents layers , the flaps and the elevators and the wings themself , plus the wheel and the lower part of the landing gear , thus then all combinaisons are possible .
I will be happy when all layers will be first finished , after I will deal with the stencils and markings .
Eric
-
Go on, Eric! :-ok :-ok :-ok :-wave
-
Dear All
I will try to finish the draing this week-end , I have been so much busy with the book , at work that I had no chance to update my drawing .
To give news about the thrd book , we now have a photo identifying clearly another Fw 190D-13 and also more photos depicting Fw 190d-11s .
Eric
-
Dear All
Finaly , I succeeded to save time to complete the riveting and add missing details under the wings .
It was a very long work , but I learnt a lot . It is difficult to get the right information on the rivet lines.
Not I have to add the shadows an highlights .
The last steps of th initial phase , will be , the flpas , the elevators and the wheels (main landing gear and tail wheel) .
All the best
Eric
-
Advancing look very good :) By the way- I see some shadow under the nose cowling?
-
Tes Shadows are made sub-assembly by sub-assembly
Eric
-
Dear All
This evening the wings are finished as the main landing gear and the propeller .
I just have to add the tail wheel and the etc 504 bomb rack
Hops you like it
Eric
-
Sehr gutt :)
-
That 's all for this Sunday
I have finished the tail wheel , the support is not fully detailled yet .
I will take the opportunity to give my best ackwolegments to all of you on this forum, especially to No1 , for his drawings basic courses online .
They help me very much to progress on computer drawing . Now only few details are left . The second phase will begin, with the representation of the markings , the last step will be final weathering and so on.
All the best to all of you
Eric
