Srecko and I have been working on a series of profiles for the Fokker C.5. That's because I have written a book about this important Dutch aircraft.
The C.5 proves to be a difficult aircraft, since there are so many variants! This became apparent once we started work.
My book will be available in august of this year and will be titled "Fokker C.5 - ontwikkeling, gebruik en ondergang" (design, operational use and destruction) and deals with the Dutch use of the aircraft. Later this year, or early 2011 I will finish a book about the international use of the Fokker C.5!
I will keep you updated when there is news!
Here are some impressions of the work we have done;
Work started with an old Fokker drawing;

On which a big amount of drawings was based;

And the first variant is finished!

Must say that I am in the same time frightened and impressed with project! What make me to feel unpleasant is the fact that this is very important inter war airplane, used by many countries and build in many variants and to our regret with exception of the old Profile publications, nothing is published about this machine. But I like challenges and work on this nice shaped machine is as much as hard, in other hand great pleasure.
You are really brave man as well you dare to work on this airplane but as well I have seen a lot of the material, I am sure that book will be milestone of this airplane once when published.
And you said August... well I must hurry with other works on drawings and profiles :)
Keep on good work mate :-clap

All drawings done long time ago but I did not present them, I simply forget it.
-
Great drawings! :-clap
Did it take much time to draft all this? :-think
-
Few months. This is very complex project, at first glance idea was to make typical sample but very soon was realized that there is no typical sample so this delayed much work on type.
-
Now it's finished,and looks perfect!
-
Thank you :-ok To regret this drawings will no go in book but I hope I will find its use :-cool

No worries, Nico :-)
First, it's time to relax - it has been a busy couple of months with the book, work, and our little lady at home.
Now, the "propaganda machine" is up and running, people ought to know the book is coming, the reactions are very positive up to now!
In the meantime I am busy with another blockbuster project, or, at least a part of it. For the book about the D.9 to D.20 I am writing the history of the Fokker DC.1. But that is pure relaxation, compared to editing a book!
Then, behemoth number two is nearing completion - Fokker C.5 in foreign service! (Ahhhhh... history of C.5 service in Bolivia, China, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Netherlands, Netherlands Naval flying Corps (MLD) and Netherlands Indies (LA-KNIL). That'll be an English book.

Dear friends,
It's time to announce that last friday, the books have left the printer and our now officialy DONE!
This was a long, long, project! I started it six years ago and together with Srecko, spent many hours behind the computer, studying pictures. I am really happy with the results! Also, for the modeller, this book will be a very nice reference.
Now its time to enjoy the "birth" of my book, and will continue with the next part of the story: foreign use!
