Why are you doing this to me,now I have desire to start building my AMT/Ertl P-40N kit :))
Excellent topic I will enjoy watching this baby grow :-love
P.S I know you mentioned Dutch and Brazilian model but is there any data about VVS example?
-
I still did not check out about N is Soviet service. Will see ;)
-
Looking forward to it
I have seen some profiles but unfortunately no photo of P-40N from 2nd GvIAP, Northern Fleet is the most interesting with the inscription on the fusselage For Safonov!
In the fall of 1943 this function was handed off to the 11th ZAP, situated in the nearby town of Kirovabad. The P-40M-10 began to arrive here in August, and the P-40N-1 in November. In October 1944 the 11th ZAP began to receive the most modern model of the Kittyhawk delivered to the USSR, the P-40N-30.
The shipment of P-40s to the USSR was halted in December 1944. Altogether 2,425 aircraft of all models (except the F) were delivered in 1941-44. Combat losses of the VVS (not counting PVO and VMF aviation) were 224 aircraft of this type ...

Small progress. Tomorrow I will check out all panel in regards to the images and then include layer with access panels and doors. After that a lot of small detailing and shadows of course...
-
Hello Srecko
I like very much the way ro represent the exhaust pipes , congatulations , they look very realistic .
Eric
-
Thank you mate :) I have watch at photo and this take me much more time then I have used some regular approach in illustrating. I am not sure about time but I will try to use some photo realistic style in illustrating of this plane.
-
Here is show progress in panels and access doors. Now it have to equipped with nuts and bolts :-razz
-
High Srecko
I can understand that it takes you some times to realise the exhausts .
Eric
-
Off course :) For example it need the same time as to make rivets on all airplane and I think the more. So I have just redetails this exhaust and this took some 15 minutes. Here you are sample images where all details is need to make detailed part and as well advanced steps in P-40N profile.
-
Most of the small details are made but there is much left to be done on the rear section. At least you could see all bolts and nuts in place.
-
Shadows come in game- now it look like profile :-razz

Incredible work, Mr. No.1... As we say here "DUCA!!"
That's an untranslatable and indecent Brazilian slang expressing AWE... ;)
Sergio :)
-
Thank you :-razz This is very grateful airplane for the illustration :-flo And nice chance to learn more about language :-clap
-
I would like to update this topic with new profile and this will be this Dutch machine in attach. Any idea about the rudder color?
-
I love the Dutch P-40. very nice work!!! :-ok
-
My first guess would be an orange rudder... But I've found a profile of a Dutch P-40 with white rudder, fuselage and wing bands, so I'm stuck...
Another possibility, however remote, is that the rudder was slightly turned in the pic - thus reflecting more light and looking lighter than the rest of the cammo. What do you think about that? :-think
Cheers from Brazil,
Sergio :)
-
My opinion is light blue- the same color as the color of register number on fuselage, in front of windscreen.
-
Rudder was not white but Alu!
Reference: 'Camouflage en kentekens' by John Greuter
-
Alu paint? All right...
-
Well- something like this?
-
Ooooooooooooooooooooooohohoohohohohohohoho.... :-eek :-eek :-eek :-eek :-eek :-eek :-eek :-eek
Wonderful colors ! ! :-love :-love
-
Yes, and now with serial no. C3-526 on engine cowling!
Planes were operated from Australia. After the war the P-40's were used in the 'Political campaigns' against Indonesian independence soldiers until they were written off.
Also rear fuselage section with registration and Ducth marking was alu.
Photos show that ailerons were also alu!
-
very nice profile!!! :-ok
-
Thank you friends :-ok
-
To your profile, No.1: I think C3-526 on cowling was more prominent (white, maybe?), while american roundel seems faded, as the rest of the plane... :-think
I have one Hasegawa 1/72 in stash, now have to buy another :-wall and build this dutch sample, too beautiful not to be done... :-ok
-
Maybe better to leave to Nico or any other Dutch member to give opinion about the number color ;) Thank you for comment :))
-
According to J.N.Greuter photos of the P-40N's the number on the cowling was white. The undersurface of the fuselage is grey but i do not know the colournumber
regards
Lauhof

You guys are incredible! :-eek I couldn't say anything from those photos, especially to distinct white from aluminium, or pale gray... Must be that all existing information about these airplanes put together with this photo's gives the result.
My respect! :-obey :-salut
-
