109E WIP
« on: March 14, 2010, 04:42:25 AM »
Hi all,

For two years I have been working my way through the tutorials on this site and others on creating profiles, I have stopped and started over many times and struggled with teaching myself photoshop at the same time. On top of it all, I don't ahev a lot of time between job, kids, wife etc so much of the time I work for 10-15 minutes a night.

At any rate, I am nearly completed the cowl area of the 109 and wanted to post it o get some feedback, I am lucky in that I live 10 minutes from a flying 109E, I am making the profile in its scheme (see attached). I still have clean up to do on the cowl but I am anxious to hear your comments.

Cheers!
Matt

Matt- would you be kind to provide print screen to see all of the layers in your file?

Cheers ;)

Sure thing No.1,
I counted 56 layers, all but 2 are in use. As I do more profiles I hope to be more organized with them,
is it better to have fewer layers or does it matter?

Cheers!

Letipapa,
Thanks for your support. Those "scrubbed" areas were the last thing i did before uploadiing. I am a private pilot and have some time (not a lot) in the air so I have been able to get up close to a lot of aircraft and see what taking off from gravel runways does to the paint, that was the look I was going for on this one.

Cheers!

Santynus,

Sure do, what would prefer? On the ground or in the air?

Matt- too many layers! Is there any special reason? My works are much simpler, with just a dozen of layers.

Only one reason No.1, I am very inexperienced with Photoshop and basically teaching myself. I find that I am stopping and starting over a lot with various parts of the profile, so when I get something I am happy with I usually start a new layer for the next part of it so I don't wreck what I have already done.

Once I get better with the tool I will get the layers of numbers down.

BTW, here are great photos of my subject in flight.

I understand now :) All right, you will make this profile perfectly and during the time you will reduce layers. In general you need following layers:

- basic color
- panels
- access panels
- bolts
- nuts
- shadow
- overlapping shadow (if plane have overlapping panels)
- elements basic layer (like the intakes, filters, devices or so on... which are differ from variants as well side of airplane)
- elements panels
- elements nuts
- elements bolts
- elements shadow
- cockpit glass
- cockpit interior
- noise layer

If any additional explanation need, please let me know.

Cheers ;)
