Title: Fokker D.VII Photo
Post by: Wingman81 on December 22, 2007, 04:21:40 PM

Just in case someone wants it, i bailed out at 35 Euro.
It was most probably taken after the great war and has inscripted on the fuselage: "Glück auf". This is motto of German 1.Bundesliga Football Club Schalke 04.

Huh- yes, they have two seat version. I have an image with Reda star during the revolution in Hungary in 1919.

Well guys,

though I don't do Ebay or stuff, I might help you with this. It isn't a D.VII two seater or a Fokker C.I. It has the forward nose, up to the bulkhead, of a D.VII but the rest of the aircraft is a different one  :-eek Don't know wich one, but looks like a early 20s sportster with twin bay wings (that's two sets of struts on each wing, "a la Spad").

Amazing indeed!

Cheers,

Hi guys,

all of a sudden I remembered this message and took a closer look to the picture. Definitely, it's not a D.VII. More over the fin and rudder d not have the classic Fokker shape. There is a phrase on the fuselage wich reads "Glück Auf", that in german stands for "Lucky", wich this aircraft was clearly not. Also, it says "Gelsenkirchen" as for the german city.

A true mistery!

Glück auf is the Motto of Schalke04, a German football club from Gelsenkirchen which was at the time a labour, workers and miners class club. But the plane itself is still a mystery to me.
