Dear friends,
I have this idea for a long time on my mind and some test was already made. So I have idea to start our online magazine, in the pdf form, free for download. Idea is very simple- you all know that I work for three magazines and also engaged in free lancer projects. But no matter that I have permanent flow from my PC, it look like that many of the materials will be never published. My plans is not to bring this into grave so better publish it in any way.
Principally this would be aviation content but... as you know we have new very progressive board related to ground forces so this can be also used here. Content would be described as fusion of the pure modeling content with archive material and support articles. What we see in excising print magazines will be also here- model build, model review, model news, walkarounds, color profiles, technical drawings, archive images... What you would not see is the large number of commercial, so full content of the articles.
As you guess, this would be in printable A4 form, full color and no limit in number of pages. As well the word crisis hit hardly on the pocket of many, this free source would be nice add to all those who would not be able to be subscribed on regular magazine.
So, I would like to hear about your opinion and suggestion, as well we all will work on this.
Cheers :-wave
-
Great idea! I'd be happy to contribute some of the walkarounds I have taken over the years.
-
Excellent :-clap So we now have 'Paul Bradley Column'
-
What about a photo report 'Russians at Le Bourget 1965-2009' ??
-
What about a photo report 'Russians at Le Bourget 1965-2009' ??
Off course :))
-
I believe that is great idea so count me in ;) for something :-wave
-
All right, I will :))
-
It is so great idea! :-clap
How will it be called?LLLM - LetLetLet Magazine? :))
-
I am not sure, maybe Warcraft Rebel ?
-
You don't want to name contains "LetLetLet"?I think you want made "LetLetLet" brand! :)) Maybe some day "LetLetLet food" :)) Joke :-joke
-
Will see...
-
Great idea!!! Count me in, with contributions of some kind... :-think
As the matter of fact, have actually just logged to post something that might be useful :))
-
I'm confused I've not seen that topic before...
Great idea Srecko, you can of course count on me. I can make articles of some of my builds, but also some walkarounds, historical bakgrounds... Aircrafts and AFV's.
To answer your question by mail, I can also translate the articles from English to French.
I really like the principle of free downloadable magazine.
-
Must say that I did not expect that level of enthusiasm :-clap Thank you all :-flo Details will be consider soon ;)
-
Ah, yes! From modelers to modelers! Great! InDesign? ;)
-
InDesign... I hope so ;)
-
This is a great idea and I certainly support it. I would be willing to contribute also, whether it be modeling or the 1/1 scale versions I've worked on.
Scott
-
I hope this will be in progress during mid January ;)
-
I have finally come with some magazine structure and here you are proposal for the magazine content and features:
InPressum/Content- this coming on first two pages where is given brief info about the publication, content, content info and authors
Photo Build- modeling subject with short intro and large number of images. Good for the very new kit and product release
Build Project- similar content as above but with full text and optionally drawings and art. Good for specific project like detailing, upgrade or so on.
Background- historic feature directly related to the model build features
Versions- analyze of the version of the airplane type, content based on technical drawings, images and brief text description
File- full historic article, content archive images, color art, optionally drawings, stand alone content, not related on the modeling features
Colors- I guess you would like to see some pages with aircraft color profiles... stand alone content
Fresh- news from the model world, all what we can get and arrange here
So what do you think? Hope that very soon I could be able to show you some of the previews and also to have first sample...
:-flo
-
Excellent format.
The only possible addition I can think of would be a "How To" column of some kind. Perhaps a reader could ask how to do some particular process and another member could answer with their method in the next edition.
Looking forward to the previews!
-
No problem for 'How To' and I guess that during the time we will have readers emails so we could also have separate section for this.
-
I forget one thing- photo gallery section...
-
I can't wait to see the first edition of magazine...!
-
Sounds excellent for me...
-
Sounds excellent for me...
Me too
-
Nice concept, waiting to see it up and running :-ok
-
It can run only as result of mutual effort ;)
-
That's understandable, we're all in to contribute :-salut I was just looking further into the future ;)
-
I work on some design tips in the moment...
-
Excellent, mate!
-
:-clap :-clap :-clap :-tri :-tri :-tri :-jump :-jump :-jump
-
Little update with abstract background. But this is one of layout which will be used, this is just intro page ;)
-
As i see, this is 11th page. :-think If i'm right, what is you plan for previous pages?
-
This is just test for the page layout. I don't know what will be on that page and how many pages will be inside magazine... from 64 to 128 maybe
-
64 to 128? :-eek :-eek
It's a lot of pages, and these are great news. :-tri :-tri I was expecting much less pages!
-
Hey, Srecko - where do I send my article? I have a lot of photos to upload to somewhere! :)
-
Haha- maybe we can reduce number of pages but as well we are not faced with print problems, we could play with design tips and this could extend number of pages.
Paul- upload images whenever you prefer and send me download link on email
-
Cover design but I am not satisfied at all... :(
-
I'm preparing a special article of a place I visited yesterday in Salzburg, but more on that when I come back :-cool :))
-
Come back from where?
-
Maybe you can add some details on cover page...
-
Come back from where?
Messerschmittstadt :)
-
Please visit our download section and see development of the magazine...
-
Looks really nice and full of info :-clap the only drawback being bad word-wrap... :-think
but I suppose you're going to correct this, as this is just first draft...
-
I will try but I do have problem with this. There is option for this but I have forget where it is placed.
-
Looks nice, but perhaps you should consider placing photos on one page only, since this is webzine (pdf - to be read on screeen), or perhaps different layout-landscape :-think
Just my thoughts... :-think :-think :-think
-
Problem is that I guess that many people would consider to print some pages so I decided in this way to use standard A4 form layout. I know about the fitting problem on our screens :( By the way- I have just upload new version... still in A4 form :(
-
Magazine layout is updated, please check it again and let me know...
-
Where to check?
-
Magazines is removed in a reason of security and in this moment it reach 80 pages and still more to be add. I hope that next week will be launched :))
-
Srecko you are a true friend.I don't know anyone else who would do this kind of stuff for the modelling community. If you need any help I would be more than happy to help you as much as I can :)
-
Magazine layout is updated, please check it again and let me know...
I checked the latest version before you removed it and I approve. It will be a very nice product! I neglected to post anything after reading the update--sorry!
-
Thank you friends :)) It is hard working to complete this file...

Release during this week :))
-
Looks great!!!! :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
I like it a lot :) It won't hurt if you add more jet era aircraft :P
-
Will be jets there, my favorite is '50-'60 years era but possible to do modern too
-
I can't wait to see more :) Just keep up the good work :)
-
Thanks :))
-
I can't wait to see more :) Just keep up the good work :)
I agree! :-ok :-jump
-
There's still plenty of spell-checking and proofing to do.. :-roll available for help, if youd' like ;)
Also I'd suggest to try not to cut profiles (Curtiss at pages 14/15, 34/35) and drawings (Fokker at 56/57), if at all possible...
Nice looks though! :-ok
-
Spell checking... maybe. About the viewing of this images I guess that you have not properly set up display of the file. First at all set up vertical spread on icons on the top row and then set up pages to be side by side on the right bottom corner and everything will be perfect ;)
-
Its' not a problem to spread the document, it's about the picture cut which is not necessary (me thinks)...
Anyway, it also depends on the Acrobat you're using - I have version Pro 9.0, and it shows much better image than your example, with no gap between pages...
Whatever, call if you need something...
-
Picture cut? More explanation please?
-
The propeler or the tail is on one page, while the rest of the plane is on the other...
-
I know that, this as well few of other issues will be solved. Yes, this is problem as well small part is spread on other page, not problem if 1/4 of more of the object is spread...
Sorry to say but I still learn about this and this is complex work in any aspect
-
First issue of Warplanes is released. Please visit or Download section and get your free sample. Please note that this is limited time download and keep this file safe, no sharing around ;)
-
Many thanks No.1, looks great, will read throughout tomorrow :-clap

-
Agreed: excellent!!!
-
It is time to make some principal changes in the way of the magazine content. My initial idea was to make fusion of the modeling and historic content and this could hold on but I find that it is not good idea to display fresh released kits and to base some of the content on the latest kits released. Simply to say, there is no interest at all to follow industrial trends set up buy the manufacturers. New releases are based primary on the market analyze and manufacturers goals to make profit. Problem is that the sphere is more or less limited and due to the market area interest, considered options for new releases are limited. And future is that many interesting subject will not be produced in descent level.
Simply to say, we does not share the same view on the modeling (manufacturers and our magazine). If we continue to keep on the last releases of the mainstream manufacturers, we will be faced with limitations familiar with the review problems. Also this will raise problem with creativity as well anybody of us could give much more on any other build project. You have nice sample of what our friend work on early version of B-17 or also work on CW-21 from the same author. Simply following its own trends resulted in top output!!!
So I decide to drop idea of following main streams and from issue 03 start to follow our ideas and our interest, no matter is this commercial or not. Simply we will follow our harts and back to the core of the modeling. In this way we will open gate to many less seen but interesting project, we will see also some more resin or vacuum formed kits. Off course- we will not refuse offer to display new releases...
Naturally, I can not make this idea final so I need to hear what do you think and what is your opinion about this.
-
I fully agree on this approach and I think it is a very good idea to review kits that have been gathering dust for many years and that now will be eventually built. I hope it will indeed result in review of really rare kits out of production for many years!
-
Good idea about review but best at all would be if we could make build review with tips how to upgrade or improve the kits.
-
Huh, I agree on decision not to go with all the brand new stuff, it's just chasing your own tail so to say
Nico also has good point about out-of-production and old kits, while on the other hand maybe there's not so many modellers (especially younger ones), or to say majority, that have some vintage kits in stash...
Why don't we just play it "by heart", or to better put it - get something off the shelf, be it old or new kit, just something you want to build at that moment. Make a good model and show improvements and tips - I tend to find this other issue even more important as modelling tips are something I prefer to share with others as well as to learn new ones.
It's even better if more of us agree on the same subject, like this group builds we have started - that way there's even more material, and all of us could show different techniques applied on the same problem...
This, of course, goes for modelling itself - I'm not much of a historian so can't interfere with historic and articles and archive photos...
-
I agree with you, Srecko, for a new orientation of the magazine. Simply we have to work on what we like to work to, at a given moment...
-
So we have our way :-tri
-
I agree with you, Srecko, for a new orientation of the magazine. Simply we have to work on what we like to work to, at a given moment...

For no. 04 will go first part of Nico article about B-45 as well second part of draken's F-84F. One of the modeling features will be Second Air Force Hs 129 build. Any additional suggestion?
-
Any other of Fokker builds? Also I might prepare accompanying article/walkaround on Schleißheim sample... :-think
-
Will consider this. Draken build will be delayed so no theory to go with group build inside.

Due to the files migrating, I have moved files related to Balkan Decals new products on new PC and simply did not see it in the folder with files for magazine. In this reason magazine miss review of their latest products. Please accept my deep apologize for this terrible mistake.

How many words/deadline?

No specific deadline, and from 2500 to 3500 words if possible.
-
I have a photo (somewhere) of our honeymoon trip to the Air Force Museum with my 1971 Dodge Colt parked next to the XB-70. Back in 1982 the XB was still parked outside of the main display hangars.
-
I'll get on it in a few days, I'll put in a bibliography as well.
-
Finally I had some time... Great No.9

Two more authors? :-eek :-eek Do i know them? :)
Well, from my side of view it is not problem to have more them 200 pages. ;) :-tri

They are from here, we all know them but lets keep their identity :)) Problem with number of pages is in the continuity, people expect to keep this level, any distance is treated as fall of offer and quality.

So something must be drop. Idea will not be forgotten and from time to time we will arrange some special issue. Web site will be more rich in content and all what we will not publish in printed publication will be on our site. So we will have benefit anyway ;)

I feel the same my friend. I get so many requestd for information from my site, I have less time to work on it. Also my work is keeping me away from finishing the book I'm writing, soon very soon, I will have some spare time on my hands and can get stuck in to all the projects I have wish to complete.
Best wishes to your future plans No.1, I think I can say that the members of the site will support you in any undertaking you are looking at doing.

-
:-clap :-clap :-tri
-
I already started this project in 1980 (yes!) but it has been shelved for many years until Srecko picked it up again. Original text has been totally renewed with much unknown information and with many, many new and rare pictures.
The book will be built up chapter by chapter and that will take time of course.
Anyway it should be really nice to see the progress on the Forum!
-
It is real pleasure to work on this project my friend :-ok
-
Nice!
Ernie
-
You have preview in download section
