Greetings all,
You have noted last months that we have made great improvements in the forum design and application scripts. Result is the better running place with friendlier feature then before. Most important is the upgrade of the whole forum script into the latest version.
Basic web site is next. In following weeks or months Let Let Let Warplanes will be down. I don’t know when but I am site that this will be happen. It will be reborn will full new features and options. But this will be not be only graphical and script changes. First at all this will be active web site with few authors and editors there. All of you who are work on article will get your portfolio page. Tag system will be completely new and this will give result in the better search the site. Also I prepare to include complete new feature on the gallery of images as well we will deployed here a thousand of images from museums and air shows.
What is really new is the general policy- no free support for any publications any more. Me and some of you here, on my advice, have been supported few magazines article and book project. In reward we did not get thank you and no sample of publications. Now everything will be offer for sale- images and profiles at average world price. No excuse for anyone! If somebody have thousand of dollars or Euros to pay printing of publication I am sure that he or she could pay few hundred for images and art. But I will continue to give free permission to use material from web site on other sites and support basic internet idea of spreading knowledge.
And something where I really need you- regarding to the detailed info from the web tracking we have a lot of visitors from France, Germany and Netherlands. After that coming Italy, Czech Republic and so on… Is it possible to get language support for the article? Is there any member who could give some time and translate articles from Category of Files and Models into the at first line French, German and Dutch language? This will be great burst for the site!
Let me hear what you think :-think :-ok
-
These are some great ideas, changes are good from time to time I personally like the new forum look and layout.
Gallery improvements should perhaps include some more photos visible for visitors and by my opinion could attract even more visitors. Photos should surely be protected with some signature of the author and LLL mark and not in full resolution.
Idea for multi-language is great and I hope it will work.
Well these are some of my observations and I hope you'll find them constructive...
I am sure that LLL will look even better and it will surely become "the Hot Spot" for any aviation enthusiast if it isn't already. :-tri
:-wave

Thanks for the update and good luck with the changes.
Regarding translations, I personally don't think there's any need for translations to Dutch. Almost everyone in Holland speaks English at a pretty decent level (as hardy anybody else speaks Dutch) :)
Personally I would always read the original English version of an article, even if there was a Dutch translation (I am Dutch for those who don't know). Dutch isn't a great language for technical terminology I find (ship builders will disagree!), and nothing is worse than having all well-known English terminology literally translated! :)) So in all, in my opinion effort spent on translating to Dutch is better spent on other improvements.
Just my 2 Euro cents of course! :)

Again No.1, thanks for keeping us informed
As samuraj77 states sounds like a good idea. I like the idea of a gallery area, I have seen some sites were they automatically add a water mark to each image uploaded.
I'm sorry that I cannot help with translating, its taken me nearly 50 years to understand English. ;) and I'm still working on that.
Looking forward to the rebirth of LetLetLet :-ok
-
Thank you friends- your comments are welcome.
Script for the galley will include watermark as well many other options. One of the option is to open images in the same window. So we need no language translations? All right. We will keep it in English only.
General outline of the LLL will be like this but many of changes still wait to be considered. Stay in touch and hope the rest will give their valuable input.
-
Nice idea with the new design. I must agree for the language. Most German people can understand at least english, except maybe some people of the older generation 60+ If i ever write something i can make it dual english/German should not be a problem.
How many spanish visitor you have? that would make maybe more sense to translate it. Some script to watermark photos would be a nice addition so we could publish more of our own collection not only in the forum. :-clap

Even now we can add an watermark but this will be automated. You have nice understand me about the main point and some feature and policy will bring out great number of archive images on the light.
Yes- we have a lot of visitor from Spain but not sure that we can arrange any to give language support. So in this way this will stay as it is, I think.
-
Hello,
Well I guess these changes will be helpful, but I am sad by the comments -
"Me and some of you here, on my advice, have been supported few magazines article and book project. In reward we did not get thank you and no sample of publications."
Well the reason why you did not get a copy of my Mustang book is because it is not published yet!! so how can I send it to you? In it you will be credited and thanked very much, and of course - as agreed - you will get a copy when it is published, but I cannot send it before publication! That would be physically impossible.
Anyway you say -
"No excuse for anyone!"
Oh dear!!
Best wishes,
PV Chairman.
-
PV Chairman- I did not talk about you. You are4 the member here and this is other thing. Talk about many others who are not related at all with site and forum but did get a lot of material.
Idea of forum is to support members and help in their search. So this will not change. All clear now ;)
-
Hi guys,
I'm 100% that changes will make this site even better, so No.1, go for it. It'll be sad not to enter the site for a while but it'll be ok. After all, I never had a most heartly welcome on a forum than here, and I really appreciated that.
I won't go into detail about information, photos ans stuff given to authors but here in Argentina it is pretty common for such things to happen. And many times there is a fellow modeler involved in that "ripping off" of images kindly lent. I guess some people never learn...
Good luck with LLL's new facade, and I'll be around if anyone needs some help, my e-mail is in my profile.
Cheers,
-
Just proceed with changes, it is ok, I support. Also, it will be nice if wattermark of LLL will automaticly protect our photos and works, and if somebody (out of our party) wants to use this in publication etc, that one should pay.
I hope on new site design the texst could be seen whole, because on this old one a letter or two at rught end, I allways can't read.
I like how new design looks, its OK.
-
You have a great site. If you think it needs changes, then so be it. I'm with you.
-
Friends- this is it! As soon I get time I will start total rebuild. This will be hard and will need time.
Thank you all :)
-
:-wise
This is a great website. I am continually surprised by the depth and breadth of knowledge seen here. No.! is a multi talented individual. I back him 100%.
-
Looking forward to see the new layout! As already said earlier by one of our Dutch members: there is no need to translate text into Dutch (and I am also Dutch!).
I would prefer English as basic language!
-
Thank you Leo and Nico. Main reason why I have consider translation is the fact that I have noted on server that there at least some 40 to hundred of person who translate web pages. I have seen yesterday that some pages was translated into the French, German, Russian and Spanish. But in meantime I have find integration solution that this could be translation direct online. if I make it good you will have button on the right lower side and you could translate page into the many languages via Google translators service.
I still don't start with the down action as well my friend who have direct access to the server are not possible to take any time and manage database for the Let Let Let. As soon as possible this will be done and there we will need few months to fully rebuilt it. In this time I will give full test and make all possible script modification to met our needs and requirements.
Thank you friends :-razz
-
Few days left...
-
All right- we have action now. Let Let Let is down. In one day will start upgrade to the new system. I would like to ask following members to provide me its personal images and short portfolio:

-
I use firefox and I am experiencing those problems...
-
So I have to check out with the Gallery author or to report this to Firefox crew...
-
It looks like this in my Firefox 2.0.0.14
If that is what you guys mean.
-
Same with me Wingman
-
Yes- this is it. You can see images but not thumbnails. How about Explorer? Did any use this browser, this will be important to see as well over 80% of visitors use this browser.
Problems...
-
To tell you the truth I discovered this problem when I tried to use explorer...
Explorer works fine thumbnails are visible...
-
All right- will talk with German gentleman who have make gallery script and see what we can do here. I am sure that this would not cause problem as well curiosity will win and visitors will open this grey blocks... but better to fix this in close future.
Well- when I start this web site there was many problems and this is the same on this very start. Will see what we will get in year or two.
Friends- I am proud to say that Let let Let is really international and I am glad to have you here :)
-
I am proud to be here :-ok
-
I am proud to be here :-ok
I'm right with you on that statement samuraj77 :-salut
-
Thank you friends. During all conversations here I have made some change in php file for this forum and now we have more cleaner footer there. There was four images, two left and two rights, and they are no anymore.
I will continue to upload files and hope in meantime will get more idea. You know well that there is much of work on customization of the site but this will be handle with care in some time.
:-wave :-ok :-tri

Looks in MSIE 7
-
This is good view- thank you for attention mate :)
-
I would like to ask you for advice. There is two more categories to be add. One is Gallery with the selection of my digital and oil art and the other will be with archive images. So how to name this with archive images? It could not be called archive as well the site have Archive where is stored data of all articles from particular period. Maybe some name like... Collection, Memorabilia... I don't know. Any idea?
Also one more detail- in this archive images section I will upload most of my archive images as well images from Nico Braas collection. Did any of you would like to do the same with your material? Just to note that image will be just some 300 to 350 pixels wide as well we expect some thousand of images to be upload in some short time and this will reduce reload time for visitors.
I have made few sample of images with 45 degree watermark label. Images are 350 pixels wide.
Cheers :-wave

Imagery store?
I could look through some of my images for uploading :-think
-
:( Unfortunately I don't have no archive photos of my own...
Considering the name Collection (or Photo Collection) should give all the visitors a certain idea about it's content...
Hope this helps a bit :-wave
-
"Photo Collection" would make me curious. or LetLetLet treasure chamber :-green
-
Nice input ;) Just get an idea- how about name Source ? In fact this is the source material? I will give no action without your suggestion.
-
I have just include online translation. Please check it out how this work. One question- I have make pages with your portfolio but forget that I will make better authors page which will have automatically all info about the article you have post. What about to erase first pages and left only pages of this type:
http://www.letletlet-warplanes.com/author/nico/
They are better then this one:
http://www.letletlet-warplanes.com/about/nico-braas/
What do you think?
-
I liked the first one, full of information.
-
All right. But here are the problems again. On this image you could see flags which present language translation support. Problem is that in Firefox I see only one flag, UK, and when I click on it appear very thin row of flags where is not possible to see correct flag. In Opera this work perfect and I would like to know how this look like in Explorer.
-
I have another problem for Firefox ;o
What should load there on the start page? It will not load with my firefox.
-

I see what you mean. The problem is there will always be some issues between differnt browsers, hopefully when Firefox 3 is relased things my get better. I have to use IE at work, but I only have Firefox at home.
I think I will download Firefox 3 Beta and try it out this week. :-/
-
I have write a note to the author of this script and hope he could be able to fix this problem. Or I will change translator option. I can not ask visitors to change browsers just for my web site. It have to be good display in every browser.
"Display or die" :))
-
"Display or die"
;)
-
My Dad has firefox 3 Beta on his PC i will test there later today ;)
-
All right :)
-
Can you believe :-eek this man have blog dedicated to our web site :-razz
http://technorati.com/blogs/www.letletlet-warplanes.com
-
Latest news- web site space is upgraded on 2 GB and in this moment, when the main site is in rebuilt, LLL is 554 MB heavy :-eek In the gallery we have over thousand of images and there is not counted images directly upload on articles. My expectation is that in few month in the Collection section we will have some thousand of archive images.
Thing is rolling slow but powerful.
:-wave
-
Typographic tip- how do you like this old good book design tips with first letter :-razz :) ;)
-
Good idea, makes the article stand out. :-ok
-
Thank you mate :) Now I would like to ask you for help. Who could be able to make some review of the team behind LLL?
http://www.letletlet-warplanes.com/about/

Bolded letter makes the article more attractive. :-ok and next good news. I tested with Firefox 3 Beta 5 and problem with thumbnail is solved!!! :-cool
-
Thats great mate :) And who will take a time to write some short text about us?
-
Thats great mate :) And who will take a time to write some short text about us?
I will try and put something together this week hopefully :-wise
-
All right mate ;) Please give me PM if you need any specific info or so on.
Thank you :)
-
Hi mate. I found another bug. When you have translated (it now works with Firefox 3beta) the thumbnails will not load because they link to a different URL with country code in it.
-
Yes it is true. And this could not be set in this browser. It work good in Opera. As you can see it is impossible to make something good for all. But hope in future will fix all of this.
-
Well- this is more or less set as it have to be. You have now featured articles which is changing in the top of the page. Most of the articles have also its own linked from the main pages as well from category pages. In some future I will going to make some changes in the style sheet as well customize some flash. This will not be easy.
Any suggestion?
-
Problem with IE 7?
-
This graphic shows now completly correct in Firefox 3.0 ;)
-
Also work perfect in Opera but to regret over 80% still use Microsoft Explorer. I will going to see and change code. Anyway- main subject are bellow and not cover. So this could be accepted for first time.
-
One more detail:

Color layout is changed and it is more like the old version web site and close to the look of forum. What do you think?
