Coming nicely...

I see on your workbench that you're using Humbrol acrylics: how are these?

Thank you - In fact, I suggested to Philippe Jacques from PJ Production the pose of the pilot, wishing one not standing near the aircraft, nor sitting in the aircraft...

It seem that during WWI Belgian made their khaki using a mix of "what they could find": perheaps PC10 + PC12, or a mix with French green...
Of course that would say that you can have a variety of +/- similar khakis...
That paint was fixed in the inter war, and our Foxes, Fireflies, SV5, Gladiators... were painted with a "standard" Belgian khaki.

Thank you!

The color used to represent the Belgian khaki is a mix of Dark Brown and Dark Green. I used WWII references (the British colors used at the beginning of WWII).
The proportions were 50/50; but for the Spad I will probably use 60% Dark Brown 40% Dark Green.

Just after having finished my D.VII, I've built this one: th eprobably only one Fokker E.V that beared Belgian colors!

It seems that that aircraft was found at Evere after the Armistice, and taken as personal aircraft by Lieutenant Van Cotthem. He first flew with a lozenge fuselage but after 1920 was repainted khaki and received the number "17" during the meeting of Evere in 1921...

The kit is the Dragon at 1/48th scale; pilot is from PJ Production

Thank you Profa!

For the tyres, it was indeed an envy to present tyres other than grey...

Hello friends,

Another of my builds: a post-WWI Fokker D.VII of the Belgian 10ème Escadrille, circa 1919-1920.

After the War, the Armistice conditions stipulated that Germany had to deliver 100+ Fokkers D.VII to Belgium. But many of them were in bad condition and only 35 were reconditioned to be operationnaly used. The Fokkers served in Escadrilles, and finished their career at the Belgian aviation school.

The model I've build has some particularities:
- The fuselage was remade, with Dope linen
- The photo shows that some elements of other aircraft were possibly used
- The windshield comes from a Nieuport 23
- Armament was removed

I used Techmod lozenges. It's the old kit Dragon at 1/48th scale: pilot comes from PJ Production.

That kit has won many prices in different contests in Belgium...

Can you tell me more about your turnbuckles method?

Thanks again for your kind comments!

Srecko,

- I think it could be good too to press louves on soft wood - Perheaps even better than my method... I didn't have thinked to soft wood...

- Gator glue haves the density of PVC glue. Very interresting to place little parts that you need a little bit time to adjust or position perfectly. Te reverse of the medal is that you cannot use that glue for fast work because she needs a looong time to dry - But when dry, it's hard!!! Another advantage is that when placing a part, if you have glue in excess, you simply remove the excess with a paintbrush with water...

- For the turnbuckles, I will use the method of "Agiosdimitrios" that you can see on Theaerodrome:
