Ground Forces / Citroen Kégresse P28 (RetroTracks 1/72)
« on: June 24, 2012, 06:56:06 PM »
Acquired yesterday at the Huy Model Expo (Belgium); I will begin the kit in the next few days: it's a long time I haven't worked on AFV's; time to come back on the scene...

The kit is very small as you can see with my 1 euro coin... But it's a wonderful vehicle that will be "camoflaged" in... blue! What a nice scheme...
Parts are well molded and very fine. There is a microscopic decal sheet; and of course an instruction sheet.

Actually, the parts are put in a bath with wash product. It's a need, with resin elements, to remove the products used for molding that can reduce adherence of paint...

Aircraft Modeling / Mirage V - PJ 1/72
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:37:36 AM »
So, I have received yesterday the two Mirages V kits I've ordered at PJ Productions. A Mirage V was still existing in their catalog but in resin with some metal parts: wheels, nose antenna... and a little bit of photoetch.
This brand new kit is in injected plastic. More easy to build; more cheaper; it contains meanwhile some resin parts and photoetch too. Resin parts are the elements that differenciate Mirage V from Mirage III.
I have seen comments saying that the engraving is a little bit too deep, but personnally I'm not bothered with that (it's not at a Matchbox level!) and the use of black paint will help to fill the gap, and to pre-umber...
My first impressions are good. I really hope for an easy build.

Technically speaking, that injected Mirage V is the result of a co-operation between PJ Productions and High Planes Models from Australia. Actually there are two Mirages released under that cooperation (Mirage V but also Mirage III at 1/72 scale); PJ and High Planes selling the kits under their respective labels in their "zone of influence".

After having had a little break in our hobby (due to different reasons) I wish to resume building kits I really want to build; I will begin with that Mirage. Of course the kits I have to review will be also built in the same time - but this build is my preferred to do, I must say...

My first operation today is to give a bath to all the plastic parts, to remove the products used for moulding.

I own also in my documentation an old "Lock-on" book from Verlinden about the Mirage V, that was written by Walter Pieters... Very useful!

Time to resume modeling after two weeks that were very hard...

I will build for review the I-16 Type 10 from Eduard. At first regard, the content of the box is gorgeous...

Ground Forces / Sirokko
« on: March 10, 2012, 12:49:28 PM »
I have one of my best friends that is working with me and that likes horses. She owns two; and at the office she had a little figure of a horse in resin (medium quality figure, not a model for modellers...)
One day, the figure felt onto the ground and had the two ears broken. I proposed to my friend to repare the figure for her, with miliput. So I came back at home with the figure.
Doing new ears for this poor horse, I had the idea to paint one of the two real horses my friend owns. So, she gived me some photos, and I begun the work.
As you know, I'm not figurinist. I use acrylic but no oil paint.

After having repaired the ears, I used my "home putty" to eliminate some holes and other defaults, and to give male attributes to Sirokko!!!  :-eek
Then sanding; primer; and painting.

I have also modified the base, using Piedra Pomez to obtain a nicer ground that I will complete with grass...

Anyway, here is the actual result. Hope to finish it very soon. I'm just waiting the Piedra Pomez becomes dry.

It's my priority, other workbenches will restart when the horse will be finished  ;)

Ground Forces / Sherman & variants Group Build
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:17:50 PM »
Hi friends,

I open the Group Build with my project: the Sherman T31!

The T31 never attained production; only a few prototypes were built. The goal of that incredible macgine was to destroy the beach defences during landing operations. But production would have come too late...

The base is the Dragon 1/72 M4A3E8(76) Sherman (what a name...  :-green ) and I will use the Retrotracks conversion kit giving the turret with three guns, and some photoetch elements.

I hope to begin the build soon; I will try to finish some aircrafts before to really start that "monster"...

Hi mate,

I'm proud to have received from Philippe Jourdan an exemplar of the testshots of the fuselage of the forthcoming F-86 K Sabre!

Here are some photos - Of course, it's not the finished product. But it looks great and fits very well!!!

Ground Forces / Panzer IV ausf.G (Dragon 1/72)
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:33:01 PM »
Well, time to start a new topic in the "Ground Forces" section of th eforum; this time it's really a ground force  :))

This PZ iv is a G model of early production. The Dragon kit is very fine. Dragon reduced his 1/35 scale kit to 1/72 scale with some new technique (as they say). The result is a stunning kit with lot of little, tiny parts - at 1/72 scale that's nice but cn be annoying because hard to manipulate...
