Aircraft Modeling / Astir CS Jeans
« on: January 17, 2021, 07:00:09 PM »
This kit was assembled by a friend that gived it to me. Some work needed, like some sanding, some minor corrections like the gap between the Retrowings cockpit detail set and the fuselage. The canopy was removed from the (little) sprue by myself, but badly. I have to correct it adding some matter - Will do that with Crystal Clear or a transparent glue for kids. Anyway I've used Tamiya compund and then Klir.

Interresting kit...

I've bought that figure some years ago; now time to paint that sexy young woman with the AK 3D acrylics...

Preparation of the figure revealed some gaps on a delicate location...  :))  :-love - Miliput needed...

Miscellaneous Subjects / Halloween (goblin) pumpkin
« on: November 22, 2020, 05:37:19 PM »
A little bit of fun for Halloween : a Goblin pumpkin !
It was a test for the AK acrilycs 3D. Nice and solid but when they say there is no need to shake the bottle before use, it's true for some ones, but not for all. Well, good colors anyway!

Miscellaneous Subjects / Steampunk : The Aviator (Dieselkits 1/35)
« on: November 04, 2020, 04:28:42 PM »
OK, let's go with that new one! So, it's a kit printed in 3D; first time I'm working with such a kit...
Parts are really nice. The attachment plots used for printing are removed by the manufacturer but you have to finish the work, sanding the residues. That took me two afternoons because there were lot of sanding to do...

I noticed that sanding was not complete on the propeller... Trying to ameliorate the result, I broke a propeller blade! Trying to fix the broken blade, I broke another blade!!!
...OK, cool, be quiet, keep calm... I remembered that I have on my stash an overtree of Eduard Spitfire XVI. The propeller has the same size than the Dieselkit one; so I replaced the 3-blades propeller of the kit by a 4-blade one...

Then it was time to wash the parts; there were lot of sanding dust on them. I put the parts in a water basin with dish soap; rinced them and then put them on a towel and throwed the water away in the lavabo of the kitchen.
...But back to the workbench I realized I've forgot to remove the windshield out of the basin! Of course, the windshield was definitively gone...
I take a Q-tip plastic coverbox and made a new windshiel with that plastic...

After that, my first work was to dig the exhausts with a drill (1,2mm).

The instrument panel doesn't really exist in the kit; just a part without instruments engraved and no decals. So, back to the spare box; I had a Yahu Spitfire IX instrument panel at 1/72 scale; that fits quite perfectly on the kit part!

I will also use 1/48 WWII Luftwaffe seatbelts  :-green

Then I've glued some parts together.

The figurine is named "Lucy the Cowgirl" but having a cousin that is photomodel, I will better name her "Linda" because she posed for a photograph with a cowboy hat  :-love :-love :-love

Hope to continue very soon...

Aircraft Modeling / Siai Marchetti SF260 (Heroes 1/144)
« on: September 06, 2020, 07:38:57 PM »
I did not know "Heroes"... They are producing very nice resin aircraft kits at 1/144. It seems to be the truth: this little Marchetti looks really fine!

I have a good documentation with the book written by Serge Van Heertum & Marc Arys (book is dedicated!  :-love ).

You have to be very attentive to remove carefully the resin carrots; it's really important as the kit is really tiny.

White primer is already airbrushed...

Aircraft Modeling / Chibi F-104G
« on: July 05, 2020, 02:48:53 PM »
This is a kit from Freedom Models. I cannot post a photo of the box because my friend Dominique Jadoul have it; the box contained an F-104 and a TF-104; we took both one kit...
Decos are for US 104 only; but I will build a Belgian one: one of the "Slivers" demo team
See here how those two pilots were absolutely crazy:

Anyway, to build one of their aircrafts some modifications will be needed.
First; the decals: I will use the DACO 1/144 decal sheet for BAF 104G.
What concerns the kit: For a "Slivers", I need the pylons on the wings end. Those pylon doesn't exist; the external reservoirs are immediately fixed on the wings. So, I have first to reduce the wing plots; then to create the pylons. My idea: to use halves missiles (BAF never had missiles on the lower part of the fuselage) - photos 2 to 4.
Then, not fixing anything under the wings, I need to sand the gaps and, next phase, to fill with putty. Putty will also be needed for the pylons...

Miscellaneous Subjects / Star Wars Rebel pilots 1/72
« on: July 05, 2020, 02:36:46 PM »
Some years ago I painted 5 Star Wars Rebel pilots (acrylic paints). There were awaiting an eventual diorama with a vehicle.
Last week my 8 years old grandson Victor came at home. Looking my stock of material, he discivered the pilots and asked me to give them to him... As I agreed, he said that "with a dio, that would be better papy".
So, having few time to do that, I simulated the ground of Tatooine...
Victor go back to his home very happy ;-)

Ground Forces / "Chibi" Hetzer
« on: April 24, 2020, 07:29:09 PM »
It's my friend Dominique Jadoul that gived me the envy to begin another tank!!!
With RetrokiT, Dominique realize lots of sets that help to ameliorate or modify chibi tanks (but also aircrafts).
This time, he created the hull of an Hetzer to convert a Pz38T...

Ground Forces / Jagdpanther (late) - Tamiya 1/48
« on: April 16, 2020, 07:09:15 PM »
This kit has a special story...

4 or 5 years ago, when I was practicing martial arts, one of my fellow "warrior" asked me to learn him how to build a model. He was interested by tanks. I proposed him to build that Jagdpanther that I had in my stock. He began the work and I must say was good; but life being what she is, he didn't had the time to continue... So the kit was sleeping on my stash since then.

Yesterday my eyes falled on the box art. I decided to continue the kit. But as I wish to use another camo, today I've first airbrushed white primer on the wheels and the bottom of the chassis, the parts my friend had already painted...

Aircraft Modeling / Indi's German biplane
« on: December 28, 2019, 07:20:10 PM »
This is a funny conversion of the Stampe SV4: in the Indiana Jones movies, there is a sequence with a "german biplane" that is, in fact, an SV4-C slightly modified to be hanged to a Zeppelin.
RetrokiT realised a resin conversion set for Indi's plane (including a decal sheet). There is no need for big surgery in fact; just to replace some parts of the SV4 kit by the one in resin.
I've begun setting the "cockpits element" in place... Last photo shows you the resin elements.
