I must say I'd forgotten about this thread in some ways.... I have made little progress on the full-size car since those two photos were taken, and right now it is VERY cold here in the middle of the U.S. so I am not about to venture into the shop. This spring I'll get going again on Ingrid, but for now I'm keeping the water pipes from freezing in the house!

Moving along nicely!

Although I love the B-32 myself, it really is an ugly duckling compared to the B-29, isn't it!?

Also, I started a 1/48 Dominator project back when I was a contest modeler. I planned to use a Monogram B-24 as inspiration but the airplane would have been mostly scratch-built. Several months after I started collecting components to build mine I went to a contest and someone had built a beautiful 1/48 B-32, so mine went into semi-permanent hibernation.......

About the only thing left of the entire B-32 production is one outer wing panel that is part of a monument/memorial in Southern California and a couple of the nose and tail ball turrets. When the war ended the AAF got rid of the B-32s pretty quickly, sending the survivors either to Kingman or Walnut Ridge for scrapping. There must be some remains out in the Pacific since a couple of them crashed during the final days of the war.

This is one of my favorite airplanes! Really it wasn't successful in the original concept but for some reason the AAF continued developing it.

Yes, great memories, and I got to rebuild it a few years ago in British evaluation markings. Loved it twice!!

Here are the finished airplanes, 1/72 scale is a trainer from Bruning, Nebraska and the 1/48 scale is from 135 Squadron at Chittagong in 1944, shortly after it arrived. Decals are all from the spares box with exception of the national insignia on the AAF airplane. These were so nice to build, no drama or fit issues on either one, and I am sure they aren't the last Tamiya Thunderbolts that I will build!

I've been very slow with the update on this pair. It seems that I have gotten back into old habits of building and not taking any photos. With that said, here are the two Razorbacks. The small one is the third in my collection of training airplanes from Bruning Army Airfield in my home state of Nebraska. I discovered a photo of Y-92 after a belly landing and knew I needed to build it! The 1/48 kit is finished as a RAF Thunderbolt and I've admired the photo of this airplane for many years. The amazing thing about this one is that I used Monogram decals for the roundels that are at least forty years old. I couldn't believe it when I clearcoated this ancient decal sheet and they actually worked!
