Aircraft Modeling / Re: Focke Wulf Fw 190 D-9s

Welcome Dave,

And thank you for your congratulations...

Since the first day I started building kits, I've been maniac to render on photographs the view of kits as real... I begun photographing kits at the age of 15 with a "box" camera but that was far from good !
The only means I found some years later has been the pinhole. I made all my pinholes by myself in aluminium sheets (when I was working in a printing house) for offset printings.
I also have a pinhole I look my models through to see the rendering of my building. That permits me to correct some details as landing gears (too thick in general, particularly on Bf 109s and Fw 190s...), exhaust pipes, etc.

Cheers,
Jicehem

Entirely hand-painted. On the Ju 88 G-1, the "Cloud-camouflage" has been obtained by dry brushing the RLM 76 over the RLM 75.

I use Humbrol Metalcoat "Polished Aluminium" and polish it with SNJ aluminium powder and for the darker aeras with graphite (from a B  pencil)...

Good- thank you :) Every info about Fonck and his plane is welcome. Is the plane preserved in Paris his original? It look like that.

The only Spad I know in Paris is Guynemer's Spad VII "Le vieux Charles". This plane is finished "Lin vernis" (Clear doped linen) (Humbrol 71 color) and "Beige" (Humbrol 71+72 mix).
Other colors I've found for WW 1 are :
Vert clair (Light green) : Humbrol 120 ; Kaki : Humbrol 155 ; Kaki foncé (Dark Kakhi) : Humbrol 66 ; Bois (Wood) : Humbrol 63 ; Rouge intérieur (Interior Red) : Humbrol 60 or 73 or 113.

WW 1 tires were NEVER black but Pink or Light Pink (the real color of rubber), light brown or light to medium Gray...

So where this could be? have you note Serbian officer? Maybe some school in France?

There is the possibility this photo shows Fonck as guest of the Escadrille 77... in France.
I'm searching for the possible date and location.

Very old kit and you have in that time paint it in correct green grey bottom color!! Outstanding!!

At the time we ask ourselves less questions and we had nevertheless good information...

Very nice kit which require just few improvements and your build is very cute :)

Yes, you're right. And the one of my previous post upon Doras is better, I think...

Aircraft Modeling / Asymetric bird...

Hi,

This is the Airfix kit in 1/72 scale.
I had already built this kit in 1970 and this one was made more recently and finished in April 2002 after I had written a article in the Aéro-Journal reviw... Thanks to the documents I had gathered.
I like this airplane and I never found the kit in 1/48 scale... :-(

Looks great, tell me please is it all in Aluminum and Steel or is there any more colors?
I have a Condor kit in 1/48 scale build a long time ago but haven't still applied paint..

No, there are no other colors on this bird...

Aircraft Modeling / Fw 190 D-9 from Airfix
« on: September 10, 2008, 03:18:22 PM »
Hi,

I had already made very old Airfix's and the Lindberg's ones (both not very accurate) before the year of 1969... There has been also the not very accurate Hasegawa's.
This one from Airfix is a new moulding from the year 1978 and it's accurate enough to be built from the box. The only improvement is a sliding canopy.
This one has been made in 1989.

Aircraft Modeling / Grumman F9F-9 Tiger
« on: September 10, 2008, 03:05:55 PM »
Hi,

The second prototype of the Grumman Tiger, which, at the time was still called F9F-9... before becoming the F11F.
The kit is from Lindberg in 1/48 scale of the 1950's. It's a very accurate kit in shape and dimensions, a fact seldom to be seen at this time...
