Hi Nro.1,

it's great to come back to the forum and see such a wonderful work on a resin kit. I've gotten a Waco CSO from a brazilian company called Commando 5 and it is rough to say the least. But I'll get thru with it.

Keep up the goord work.

Good luck!

Javier

As Eric said, it seems to be an A--26 converted into a passengers transport. I found this on the web, it might help:

http://72.30.186.56/search/cache?ei=UTF-8&p=a-26+civilian+passenger&fr=moz2&u=www.hill.af.mil/library/factsheets/factsheet.asp%3Fid%3D5657&w=a-26+civilian+passenger&d=ReWFlfL9P1JR&icp=1&.intl=ar

If it is the same plane we're talking about, it was seized by US MArshalls due to marijuana smuggling. A nice kit conversion if you think about it  :-jump What would you use to simmulate weed?

Cheers,

Javier

It's been a long time since my last submission. How are you all? Hope you're fine.  :-ok

This time I have a real  :-wise, the grandfather of modern airliners, for you. It's a Revell Junkers F.13 in the Spanish Red Cross livery. Two of them were used as Medevacs during the moroccan campaign in 1925. The passenger cabin got a stretcher and a seat for the medic taking care of the wounded, in case of carrying lightly wounded soldiers, the stretcher was replaced by seats. They were rugged beasts, flying in some of the worst weather conditions, both inland and over the sea. Rugged planes and stubborn pilots make a strange combination, just like this fella hitting against the wall  :-wall I guess...

The Revell kit is actually of Eastern German origin, it was made by VEB Plastikart in the 70s. What a wonderful kit, it has some alignement problems with the floats but most of the problems were self-inflicted. VEB also released the G-24 around the same time and while it was present in older catalogues from Revell, it's been a long time since its last reissue... What a shame, I'd like to build at least 2 or 3 of them in different configurations and liveries.

It was entered in the last 2 contests of the year (didn't make it on time for the first ones) and got a Best in Show at the IPMS Quilmes Regional and the 1st place in the 2007 edition of the La Plata Modeling Association Contest. Not too bad for an oldie like this one...  :-tri

Ok, enough cheap chat and self-indulgence. Here's the model, I hope you'll enjoy it!

The only model kits not dwarfed by the F.13 were the Ikarus Blenheim Mk.I and the Trumpeter Wyvern,  :-eek :-eek :-eek strictly 1/72nd speaking... It's a large wingspan and a short fuselage, paint it black and you get a bat...  :-evil

And a picture of the Medevac version in italian service, showing the special window arrangment. Unfortunately I got this picture too late to incorporate that on the model. Would have been great  :-jump

 :-obey Thank you Srecko!!! :-obey

This is going to come in handy for Martin, he entered the site and he really liked it. What was the armament fitted to your Hurricanes? Brownings I suppose, were they 0.30 cal.?

I'm currently not building anything, I just lost my Mum today after a serious illness, and trying to build something even as a means of scape is really hard. So I just visit modeling sites trying to loose it up a little bit...

Cheers and take care of the people you love, you never know how long are they going to be around...

I agree with you on themanagement issue here. Also the executives at that time were constantly looking at the Air Ministry, jumping at every question they were made. I think the epithome of that "nuthouse" behavior was the TSR.2 project. They tossed out of the window one of the finest planes ever, just to end up with three planes that do not fulfill by each of themselves all the roles covered by the TSR.2.

Don't missunderstand me please, the Buccaneer, Jaguar and Tornado are excelent machines, but how much stupidity can be contained in a comission chock full of brass hats to reject such a plane... and deciding the F-111 was the way to go... The brits lost the rudder's pedals in the 50s and 60s... That's sad because when they want to, british industry can produce excellent designs...

Just my humble point of view...

Javier

Hi Srecko,

thx for the photos, I'll send them to my friend with your permission. If you find out any other info about the cammouflage scheme, it would be great... Thx for your words regarding the prize, usually I enter those contests to let people know there's more to aviation than they think, specially pre WW2... Sometimes it works and I'm still building the kind of planes that I love.

Cheers,

Combat Warplanes / Yugoslav Hurricane
« on: July 18, 2007, 10:47:15 PM »
Hi guys,

it's been a time since my last post here. A friend of mine has been building a Yugoslav Hurricane, he's checked Srecko's study about the colors and he asked me to post his question here: is there any 3-viw drawing showing the modified british patter or the Zmaj one? He's really crazy about it so if you could help him out on this one would be great.

In another fashion, last week there was a modeling contest here in Buenos Aires, my Polikarpov IL-400b got a 3rd place :-tri but, sadly, the Ikarus Blenheim got nothing... damn those Bfs & Fws  :-bat A relatively large group of people was surprised by the outcome of the show. Anyway, my revenge on that also bases on an MPM kit, though an old one... I'm gonna take the old  :-danger Tupolev SB bomber :-danger and turn it into a PS-40 mail carrier with Aeroflot. I know the kit is a dog and I have 3 ICM kits in the stash, but be cause it is in my stash that dog's gonna get built one way or the other :-wall

Thx in advance for your help,

Javier

Hi guys,

from what I recall, that Havoc got damaged in one of the heavy snowstorms over Moscow. The snow piled up on the horizontal surfaces and along with the wind, it snapped the landing gear an the elevator... It doesn't seem to have been repaired.

What a shame...

Cheers,

Aircraft Modeling / Re: Mirage III C Eduard 1/48
« on: June 28, 2007, 02:24:25 AM »
Actually the Mirage III CJ used here were bought from Israel after the Malvinas/Flakland war. They didn't fly too much (at least the flying hours used to in our A.F.) because they were very old and at least one of them intended as a spares source arrived in Argentina chock full of sand. It was nicknamed "El Arenero", the "Sandy" or "Sandman" (not related to the tale character). Many of them, if not all, had fought in the Six Days War and at least 2 of them were the mount of israeli aces during that conflict. One of them was returned to Israel after discovery of the kill markings on the nose. Is sits today at the IAF Museum in its half-argentine half-israeli camo and markings. Those planes were serialed in the C-700 range of numbers.

All this info comes from several sources on the Internet such as Airliners.net and Aeronet GCE.

This pictures are from Mirage IIICJ in the old A.F. Museum next to Buenos Aires Airport, Aeroparque Metropolitano. They are some 8 years old but they'll do about the camo and markings. I was able to seat in the cockpit and while it is not roomy, the pilot is in a very comfortable position and ergonomics are quite good for such an airplane of that era.

 :-clap Congratulations!  :-clap

That's a really nice kit and you got the perfect stance for a mid/late Mirage. The only question I have is about the landing gear. Because it seem to sit too tall. Otherwise I really like it, you used the decals for the 10th Escadre?

Aircraft Modeling / Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc
« on: June 23, 2007, 12:12:38 AM »
Hi guys,

I wanted to present you with another of last year's work. This is the Sea hurricane from Revell, a really nice kit, the only problem was the lower rear part of the fuselage. The plastic insert is too shallow and took a lot of sanding to correct. Also I changed the propeller, since the original is for the canadian built Mk.XII. I used the one from the old Airfix Hurricane Mk.I. Paints were a mix of Humbrol, Modellmaster and Revell and the weathering was kept around the middle scale in my "weather-o-meter".

Hi folks!

My name is Javier and I'm from Argentina. This is my first message here and wanted to share with you the first MPM Blenheim Mk.I built by me. First than anything,  I like Yugoslav aircraft a lot so it was my first try at building and painting one of the VV birds. The Blenheim I is one of the most beautiful airplanes of the 30s and I just couldn't resist the cammouflage scheme. It's built out of the box, except for the machine gun, gunner seat and a few levers inside the cockpit. Well, that's pretty much it, so I hope you'll enjoy the pictures.  :)
