Yes!!!!!!
Last Saturday I have finally purchased that nice 1/48 scale La Fonderie kit of the Nord Griffon II.
It is a limited run injection moulding kit and that means that some flash will be present and that you must not expect Tamiya or Hasegawa quality! Surface is not very smooth, buth since panels are engraved this is no problem. Of course the whole model will have to be sanded and polished before the paint job! Locating pins for fuselage halves and wings are not present and some care will have to be taken when joining fuselage halves and aligning wings in the correct position. Instructions are very short and not always clear but this will not present any problems for the more experienced model builder!

Attached a photographic 'impression' of the kit!

Combat Warplanes / Blunt-nose Starfighter
« on: March 21, 2006, 09:59:58 PM »
Last Saturday I found this very peculiar photo of an F-104 Starfighter with a blunt nose. I have never seen such a variant and it could be a photo-montage. Any ideas about this version and what its purpose was??

That resin kit of 20 years ago was offered for sale as a limited edition (1200 kits only)  by the French magazine Le Fana de l' Aviation!
See Le Fana no. 215 of October 1987. It was from 'FanaModèle'. It was at 1/72 scale and at that time  it was offered for a staggering price of 225 FF, which is currently some 35 EURO!

Very nice colour shot of that imposing Griffon! It is from the Musée de l' Air website and of course they are in a position to take from time to time photographs on the platform in front of the museum at Le Bourget! During the Salon Aéronautique the museum is open for a reduced price. Another service to the public is, that during this occasion they ofter have a plane of  their collection standing outside!
Only for this, it is worth visiting the Salon every uneven year (next one will be next year!). In the past years, they had amongst others the Bréguet Taon and the Sud-Est Barroudeur on the platform!

Here are some details shots of the Nord Aviation 1500 Griffon no.2 as presently exhibited in the Musée de l' Air at Le Bourget, France. Details show Griffon symbol, nose details and details of main wheel bay and nose wheel.
I know of two model kits of the Griffon 02: the 1/72 Airmodel vacform kit and the 1/48 scale Fonderie limited run injection model kit.
I have the first kit, the Fonderie kit will have to wait!

Combat Warplanes / Cosford addition
« on: November 20, 2005, 03:13:47 PM »
I noted the nice pictures taken at the Cosford aviation museum. I visited this collection some 20 years ago and I really enjoyed it!

I still can remember having seen a Messerschmitt Me-410 standing outside. Is it still part of the collection?

Attached one of the shots I took in 1985!

Aircraft Modeling / 1/72 models of prototypes
« on: November 18, 2005, 06:50:05 PM »
These are some models I have built of protoypes or lesser known aircraft types:
-Grumman X-29 from Hasegawa (excellent model!)
-Ryan FR-1 Fireball from Pegasus (with needeg quite a lot of attention since NOTHING really fitted very well!)
-Norhrop XP-56 Black Bullet from Czech Model(this is a 1/72 scale model' Chech Model also has a 1/48 scale kit!)

I fully realize my models will never be prize winners, but the are at least esoteric types!
