Aircraft Modeling / Re: Model kit of a plane that didn't exist...

Hi mates,

From its dimensions, the Su 15 is far bigger than the 1/48 scale "MiG 19" from Lindberg which could represent the Su 15 in... 1/72 scale !

Following, the box cover of the Lindberg model :

Here is what I found on the net : "Russian MiG 19" from Aurora.

Hi mate,

My first "MiG 19" of 1957 has been lost for about 40 years... I built this one in the 1992. From the box.

Aircraft Modeling / Model kit of a plane that didn't exist...

Hi all,  :-salut

Here are photos of a Lindberg kit that depicts a "MiG 19" in the 1956... That plane never existed in this form !
After the MiG 19 was well known, the kit was named "Russian Fighter". I saw it for the first time in 1956...

Aurora too, issued a little different "MiG 19" but I never got it.

Hi mates,  :-salut

No absolute proof but this photo from Life review of 1940 seems to depict the first edition of the Blenheim I by Frog.

This is a Frog kit I have still unbuilt. In the kit a V-1 was included that could be mounted on top of the Ar-234 fuselage.
Found the kit some 10-12 years ago and yes, I paid only Dfl 5.- for it (= ca. EURO 2.30).
It must be a kit from the late sixties or maybe early seventies since this kit was already distributed by Rovex. Other kits in the same range (1/72 scale) as illustrated on the side flaps of the box were the BAC Lightning F.6, Canberra Mk.8/12 low lever bomber, Dornier Do-17Z-2, Spey powered Phantom F.4K/M and the Lockheed PV.1 Ventura

Hi Nico braas,

This kit is from the mid-1970s... It was later issued by Revell in Germany.

Hi Profa,   :-salut

Yes, the Frog's Barracuda kit is very old. The first edition is from the early 1960's.

Combat Warplanes / Re: Bf-109-G-14
« on: December 22, 2008, 09:17:10 PM »
Hi Leo, Hi all,   :-salut

To have studied the Bf 109 G-14, I don't think there were more accidents with the Bf 109 G-14 than with the Bf 109 G-6. The main difference between late G-6s and G-14s was the MW 50 which was propelled by compressed air from the engine in the G-14, MW 50 beeing propelled by compressed air from bottles in the G-6. Apart from this difference all parts were common to both airplane types.
N°1 says the tall tailplane of the G-14 (and also of many G-6s) was made from wood. It's true and what is true too, is the fact that the wooden tailplane was heavier than the metallic one...
Maybe the source of more accidents ? I don't think so. Accidents on the Bf 109 (of all marks) were often the result of bad "building" of the pilots.

Hi all,

I have two in 1/48 scale. They should be improved... This is the very old revell kit from... 1977 !
I'm sure N°1's Erla G-10 in 1/72 will be better.

1) An ANR plane :

2) A 11./JG 300 plane (well known) :

It's not very easy nowadays because this kit is out of production.
If I find one I buy it for you...

Hi all,   :-salut

Heller had a pretty good kit of the He 112 with German and Roumanian markings (if I remember well for the German markings because I built it in Roumanian mkgs).

Regarding the He 100, Revell's and Lindberg's in 1/72 scale are the same kit (first issued by Lindberg in the mid-1960's) and is not very good. General shape and outline are not bad but shortcomings are in the details : inaccurate location of the landing gear, no transparent rearview windows, etc.
