Aircraft Modeling / "Bat outa' Hell" B-25J Mitchell
« on: January 18, 2009, 06:49:52 PM »
"Bonjour tout le monde",  :-salut

Here is the Airfix kit in 1/72 scale of the N. A. B-25J Mitchell. I don't remember the year when the kit was built but it was before 1969, I think in 1968. Apart from the national US insigna and No 31 all markings have been hand-painted following a drawing found in the issue of "Flying Review" of October 1967. I think it's not very accurate (I never found a photo of that plane and others of the 499th BS have a bat that has not exactly the same outline.

Great set of images,

Have a look at this link, its about all the JP display teams.

http://www.jetprovostheaven.com/jpteams/

Taken from the site about the The Poachers

"The Royal Air Force College (RAFC)

1965, 1968-1970 seasons
The last Jet Provost team was from the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell.
Their first JP team, consisting of four T.4 aircraft, first flew in the 1965 season as a successor to their DH Vampire team, and the team made a return to the circuit three years later for the 1968 season. The team was given the name "Cranwell Poachers", originally from a folk song titled "The Lincolnshire Poacher."
By 1969 had adopted its own markings over the now standard red, white and grey scheme. The team flew at displays until the end of the 1970 when the Unit was received its batch of T.5 Jet Provosts.

1971-1976 seasons
In 1971, the team dropped Cranwell from their name, and were known simply as "The Poachers" The team  re-equipped with the Jet Provost T Mk 5 and continued with four-aircraft displays for the next five years.

The Poachers
proved to be the last Jet Provost team, and survived until the end of the 1976 airshow season. At the same the MoD ordered the termination of all JP teams as an economy measure.

Another era in Royal Air Force aerobatic team history had come to an end."

Thank you very much, mate !  :-ok  :-obey

Huh, never tried to wrap a model into a decal... :-/
Seems you did a nice job, though ;) :)

The white color is paint as are the red stripes on the undersurfaces.

This one is definitely nice :)
Do you have any reference photos on this? Seems like very interesting camo :)

Photos exist.
I forgot to say this the 1/72 scale Airfix kit built in 1987 from the actually only one color picture I knew of this plane. It was, at the time always reffered to as WNr 500570 (it was) "schwarze 12" of JG 6 but was in reality (from Japo book) "blaue 12" and the digit 2 is slightly different.

Very interesting :) Is this of French origin?

Yes, it was and was the only French plane with a sharkmouth.
It served with Groupe Corse in Indo-China. The reason of the sharkmouth is in connexion with the landing of this plane on a beach and in... the water. So that it was called "the shark" and was adorned with this sharkmouth.

Hi everybody,

Convair F-106A from Hasegawa in 1/72 scale. This kit was built in February 1980 and nowadays the decals are a reddish color... I don't remember the manufacturer of the decals...

Hi everybody,

This kit was issued in 1957.

I built one (in reality the second one) in March 1996 as tha YF-100. It the model really presented by the kit. I've already posted some pictures of this kit but I made new photos :
