This is the second and last set of Overloon images.
Overloon is not very far away from Nijmegen and the museum is only 2 km from the A73 motorway.
I can only say it is well worth a visit!!

This is a selction of photographs I made yesterday at Overloon.
It was a long time ago since my last visit (some 25 years).
Earlier most exhibits were placed outside in a large park, but the long-time effects were quite devastating.
Everything is now placed inside a large museum hall and everything has been nicely restored.
Here is the first dozen of images......

Very interesting and with its short wings a very basic glider. Don't know glide ratio of this plane. Modern gliders have a glide ratio of some 1:35 or more (for every 35 m of forward trajectory you'll lose 1 m of altitude). Think the best the BV 40 could do was some 1:10 to 1:12 and its landing speed must also have been quite high for a glider. Must have been well over 120 -130 km/h! With its not very streamlined nose section it definitely was not a high performer! With the pilot in prone position it must have been quite unconfortable.....

Profile of Havedonut version as flown by the USAF would also be nice.
It was a machine on loan from the Israeli AF. As far as I know it is same as now displayed in Hatserim Museum.

Small photo update! Black & white image is from a small batch of photos I unofficially purchased at the entrance of the Central Aviation Museum 'Frunze' in Moscow.
The other shots were taken at the Zhukovsky Airshow 1992. We can see the machine giving the flight display has lost a fillet of its vertical tail spine during flight. The last image shows a Tu-160 already been cannibalized.
It seems a number of Tu-160's were refurbished and modernized around 2005.
It's an interesting type and it is BIGGER than the Rockwell B-1B.

KNIL/ML had some 60 Ryans on its inventory.
KNIL only used land version; MLD used both.
Some 24 MLD Ryans must have been fitted with floats.
Known example is S-11; which was also the subject of the old Testor 1:48 kit!!

Here is an original Ryan works picture, taken in the United States.
It shows the land version!

This is the real one photographed inside a hangar during an Open Day.
Color scheme is very interesting! It seems some 10 are still flying at the FAR.
Other fighters are the MIG-23 (not more than a dozen still operational) and the MIG-29 (3 operational).
So, the complete inventory of FAR fighter aircraft is some 35 aircraft.
It is a far cry from the time Fidel was still supported by the Soviet Union!
To be clear: I did not make this photograph during my recent Cuba trip.
It is a free download from Wikipedia.

F-111 was an impressive and LARGE machine. Although it was useless as a fighter; it was an excellent bomber!
Time for a photo update!! I have set all images at 1000 pixels wide to give a full screen.
