Like all other aircraft projects at this time, the SR.53 was let down by very narrow minded and short sighted UK government departments.  ;)
looking forward to seeing the finished profile.........

Some more information on the SR.53

The town of Swastika, Ontario, Canada, got its name from a former mine of the same name, its inhabitants refused to have it changed during and after the Second World War.
The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix.
Until the Nazis used this symbol, the swastika was used by many cultures throughout the past 3,000 years to represent life, sun, power, strength, and good luck.

mfg495 my friend,You remainded me now to try to find my photo's from USA trip in 1978, when I visited Washington D.C. aerospace museum (or what is exact name, I forgot :-red).
It may be that I shot something interesting??? :-think :-think :-think, now really I must find and check. :) :-wave

I have been to that museum (National Air and Space Museum) about 10 years ago. I was lucky to be in Washington on duty for two weeks. However, I had a lot of time off. A great city to visit if you like museums.

The Royal Navy received 252 F6F-3s and 930 F6F-5s which it operated as Hellcat I and Hellcat II respectively.
The F6F-5P's were camera-equipped version; but unlike most other reconnaissance machines, these also carried guns.
