Believe there also was a float version and I can also vaguely remember having seen one version with experimental V-tail

Interesting! I know that Zlins used for glider towing had the backseat often removed.

In fact the Helldiver was one of the last of its biplane kind! You can already more or less recognize the tail of the WW II Helldiver!
You can also state that the Helldiver biplane just had one wing too much!
As you know the Grumman F4F Hellcat started originally as a biplane as F4F-1!
Monoplane version became the F4F-2!

Checked at home in my stash and found this! Must have purchased it some 30 years ago....

Here are two original photographs showing the Blinder.
Especially the groundlooped double cockpit version is interesting.
If a good landing is a landing from which you can walk away unharmed this definitely was a good landing!

Warplane Art / Re: Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II

Solution is simple: shoot first! I can hardly imagine the Tunguska is invulnerable against the 30 mm rotating gun of the A-10..
F-35 would be very unsuitable as an A-10 replacement. It was definitely not designed to operate continuously at very low altitide against ground targets and it definitely lackes the thick armour plating around the cockpit section of the A-10. Maybe its stealth is an advantage but I think this is only marginal!

When I see on TV news that Russian Frogfoots are patroling over Ukrain border and violating their airspace it would not be a very wise move to phase out the A-10 since there is nothing that can replace them at the moment.

One of the ugliest planes ever built, but very efficient in its task as a low-level attack plane.
It fully deserved its name 'Warthog'!

R-5 looks Russian equivalent of the Dutch Fokker C.V!

Think best night fighter with best flying properties and highest speed was Mosquito NF!
It was also highly manoeuvrable, much better than sluggish He-219!

Interesting plane since it was during the war licence-manufactured at the Fokker works at Amsterdam.
Even more interesting is the fact that it was used for anti-tank missions fitted with two underwing 'Pantserfaust rocket-propelled grenade launchers'.
Some Bestman's still fly!!
