What!!??? Thin red line? Decal or hand painted? Impressive view mate :-ok

All parts are pre-painted by the manufacturer and models are sold entirely finished with engines, lights, etc. Thin red lines are printed as are decals. The manufacturer is the sole French one and models are assembled in... China for about 15 years. There has been a time when we could buy those models unassembled...  :-/

Hi,

I forgot to tell that those locomotives have been delivered in two versions : one version operated with coal (originally painted SNCF-Green) and the other with fuel-oil (painted black overall). But I don't know which used coal and which used fuel-oil. I only know that many coal-operated were modified into fuel-oil-oprerated.
On the web, I found that :

and the ancestor of the French locomotive :

Forget to say- it is photo of my scale model used  :))

New one. Note details- it look like that airplane belong to one unit and then was forwarded to another. In this way old number or sign are hand over painted and add number 21.

This plane was an Erla-Leipzig built Bf 109 G-14 and belonged to II./JG 52.

One more late war sample  ;)

There has been NO Bf 109 G-10AS at all... This plane is a Bf 109 G-14AS.

I still don't want you to leave you alone... more material from me  ;)

Hi mate,  :-salut :-salut

This plane was actually WNr 786316 and was a Bf 109 G-14AS. It has been named G-10 in my book, but it's inaccurate and the mistake had not been corrected before publication... because the book has been quickly published during the time I was at hospital... I wonder...  :-wall

Miscellaneous Subjects / Locomotive...

Hi everyone,  :-salut :-salut

This HO-sacle (1/87) locomotive belonged to my father who passed away some 20 years ago but I've been given this model only recently...

This locomotive is named 141 R or "Mikado" in the French railways nomenclature and is of American origin. 1340 "Mikado" locomotives have been ordered by France in two batches (No. 1 to 700 and 701 to 1340). They have been produced by the American Locomotive Company (Alco) at Schenectady (New York), Baldwin Locomotive Works at Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) and Lima Locomotive Works at Lima (Ohio). These works were seconded by the Montreal Locomotive Works at Montréal (Québec) and the Canadian Locomotive Company at Kingston (Ontario). The first one was issue by Lima on 30 July 1945 and the last one in July 1947 by the Canadian Locomotive Company.
17 locomotives didn't arrive in France because they were lost at sea off Newfoundland in the Norvegian ship Belpamela.
Those locomotives served from July 1945 to 19 October 1975.

Aircraft Modeling / Re: April Group Build--F4U Corsair
« on: January 01, 2012, 09:24:30 AM »
Here's the old F4U-4 rejuvenated from the first attempt. It's not pretty but still better than my first attempt with the French scheme all those years ago. One of these days I'll do another Aeronavale airplane--I've always liked the markings of those machines :-ok.

Hi Scoot,  :-salut :-salut

Your model is very nice  :-clap :-clap
You were right to put markings of an F4U-4, because French markings are inaccurate for this model. The French Corsairs (F4U-7) were basically AU-1 fuselages with the raised cockpit fitted with the F4U-4 engine. 94 F4U-7s were produced only for the French navy. France received also 11 AU-1s. I saw some of them still active in 1964 at Nîmes-Garons navy base and others at Rochefort in 1965 where they were used to train mechanics of the French Aéronavale.

Aircraft Modeling / My second important project in 2011...
« on: January 01, 2012, 01:09:55 AM »
Hi everybody  :-salut :-salut

Since last spring I had this model in progress but I stopped before applying markings because of the decals to be applied on the rudder... I must print them and I don't know how to do...
This model is based on the Heller kit in 1/72 which is given as being very inaccurate : yes and... no. Some told me it was a non-sense but apart from the inaccurate fuselage section just behind the cabin which too squared (and too much difficult to be corrected...) the remaining of the kit is not so inaccurarate than told... And it's a relative easy work to improve the kit.
I used the French SNCA-Nord documentation of the Nord N-1000 "Pingouin" (Pinguin). We see there are some important differences between the common-admitted dimensions of the Bf 108 and those of the "Pingouin" which is the French-built version of the Bf 108 D.

1) One detail which is always forgotten : the ventral streamlining of the fuel  by-pass on the Bf 108 D which is present on all Nord N-1000. Improvement of the shape of the air intake of the engine and the oil-filter of perfectly cylindrical shape.

2) On this view, we see the tapering of the of the first frame limiting the fuselage permetting the opening of the half-canopies. Without this tapering it's impossible to open or shut the canopies. Lengthening of the engine cowlings by 1 mm. I've added the handgrips and the curtains against the sun light.

3) The curtains and their rods :

4) Some improvements and addition : counterweight of the rudder, white light at the end of the rudder and relocation of the pivoting axle of the elevons and lengthening of the fin chord.

5) Seats in the "Pigouin" were made of stuff and not leather as it is so often said... I added pilot harnesses and the third "control column" which actuated the u/c.

(6) The exact shape of the upper surface of the fuselage :

7) One flight light :

It's a non-sense to engrave the struture lines on the fuselage because actually the different sections overlapped the preceding one.
Markings will be for a plane of ELA 52 in French Indo-China in 1950. Color will be either entirely "metal" or entirely French "sea blue".

I would like to see those models... :-flo

For aluminium models, that was at least 45 years ago...  :-wise
For the other ones, it's not sure the (very) old modeller can take photos...

Hello  :-salut :-salut

That makes me remember two comrads who scratchbuilt their models. One made them solid in aluminium blocks in 1/48 scale (Super-Mystère, Ouragan, Mystère IV) and the other made all parts in plexiglas pieces...
