Aircraft Modeling / Re: Bf-109 Group Build-All Variants

I like this very, very much, Jicehem! The conversion is very well executed.

A question--is there any place one could purchase the generic letters for factory fuselage codes? I've got a number of potential project airplanes that only lack the Stammkenzeichen.

I found no letters for Skz in any shop via internet... It's a pity. All letters decal sheets from Microscale, Scalemaster or others are out of stock and it seems they will never be reissued...
It's a friend of mine who printed the letters on a clear decal film. Personnally I don't know how to operate a printing machine fot that work...

Hi everybody,

A special version of the Bf 109 : the Bf 109 V31 involved in the Me 209/309 programm by testing the large track undercarriage of both and the nex belly oil cooler (retractable) of the Me 309. Both projects were abandonned because of the birth of a more promising project, the Me 262 jet fighter...
I used the Bf 109 F in 1/48 scale from Airfix.

Hi everybody,  :-salut :-salut :-salut

All previous publications are obsolete !  :-clap :-clap :-clap

Jicehem   :)

This is the best compliment we could ever get :-ok

All previous publications are obsolete with an exception : Hors Série No 1 "Messerschmitt Bf 109 G à K" at "Éditions Caraktères"  :-evil
But it is in French language... English is far better for worldwide readers.

Hi everyone,

Here you are my last build : a Bf 109 K-4 from Erla-Leipzig. The original kit is the 1/48 Revell's issued in... 1978 !
The upper surface are entirely in RLM 81 and the unsersurfaces of the wings are unpainted except the ailerons which were fabrix covered and then painted in RLM 65 (This color xas always used by sub-contractors and recommanded for fabrics). Regarding the kit itself, the engine cowlings must be improved and the diameter of the propeller must be lenthened to 62,5 mm (3 000 mm for the real thing).

Look at the asymetrical location of the extra fuel tank (and this fact from the Bf 109 E !)

On this view you can see that the rear frame of the canopy overlaps the fuselage :

Here you see the white navigation light on the lower part of the rudder :

The asymetrical shape of the engine cowlings :

That is a great build! :-clap :-clap :-clap

Thank you mate,  :-salut :-salut :-salut :-salut
This kit is not easy and needs so much improvements that that will be too long to describe them...
I had the project to build two others (MD 311 and MD 315) but I renounced...

Galland F-4 was also in autumn 1940 in grey colors.... so :)

Sorry mate, but the Bf 109 F-4 was built from May 1941 (by WNF) onwards and then by Erla (from June 1941 onwards). First F-4 had WNr 7001. Messerschmitt GmbH built no F-4 at all...
In Autumn 1940, Galland's Bf 109 F was most probably an F-1 from Mtt GmbH (WNr 5621-5757).

Thanks, Jicehem.

The white area in question is just above the supercharger intake and extends up to the left gun "bump" on the top of the cowl (just behind the wing of the Wasp).
A question about the color scheme--is it plausible that this airplane is a hand-me-down from other units that may have been in the 02/71/65 scheme?
Thanks for any advice in advance, :-salut

Hi mate,  :-salut  :-salut :-salut

Oh, I'm sorry but I didn't saw this triangle  :-red :-red :-red
I've no idea about what it could be. Maybe a mark for servicing a different engine (DB 601 N ?) or maybe a temporary mark (assembly plane ?)
Concerning the camouflage colors, we must keep in mind that those colors appeared during the Battle of England (British reports) as soon as mid-August 1940. One of the first Bf 109 (if not the first) to receive the new colors 74, 75 and 76, was Bf 109 E-4, Skz CI+EJ which was photographed at Rechlin in September 1940. The Bf 109 E-7 were built from September 1940 through March 1943. That are the facts. All interpretations are possible...

Considering the the era of the campaign in the East, the camouflage colors of the Bf 109 E-7 must be RLM 74, 75 and 76.
The red triangles outlined in white are for oil tanks. We can see two small dots (in fact two red rings) under the one behind the air intake of the supercharger. This is the mark of "Rotring" a trade mark for oil. The triangle on the nose under the hatch cover is for the engine oil tank and the other near the air scoop is for lubricating oil of the supercharger gear.

Very good, mate  :-ok :-ok :-ok

It's a night fighter of JG 300. Maybe "grüne 7", maybe "rote 7"... or, as told in a German magazine, it was "gelbe 7" of 3. Staffel at Bonn-Hangelar during 1943. Another one of the same unit is known : "gelbe 15" with almost the same camo scheme.
