Warplane Art / Re: North American P-51 Mustang
« on: November 22, 2009, 09:41:52 PM »
Found this during the large 2-days aviation fair at Aviodrome this week-end.
Don't know if it is original or reprint, but even if it is a reprint it is from original AP 2025G-P.N. document of June 1944.
Pilot notes are for UK Mustang Mk. III fitted with Malcom hood.
I had to pay a whole full one EURO for this booklet!!

Late production Mustangs sometimes has a slightly more bulged canopy known as 'Dallas hood' .
Some of the Mustangs operated by the Dutch air force in the Netherlands East Indies were fitted with these hoods!

« on: October 24, 2009, 09:57:23 PM »
Fokker S-14 book, written by me and Willem Vredeling, is finally published at Geromy B.V.
See http://www.geromybv.nl/epages/61575298.sf.
Book is hard-cover, luxury-bound, A4 size, has 200 pages and contains some 170 photographs and an additional sixty drawings.
There also is a nice colour section with very rare colour photos and a number of really beautiful colour profiles.
Total number printed is 1000.
Price is EURO 49.90 (+p&p), which seems a little bit on the hight side, but I can assure you that it is fully worth its money!!

It is also interesting that the Hs-126 prototype was fitted with an in-line liquid cooled engine!

Focke Wulf arrived yesterday together with a Spitfire Mk.XVI. It must have been a spectalular sight to see both planes in formation............

Combat Warplanes / Focke Wulf FW-190!!!!!!

The Focke Fulf FW-190 replica that was introduced earlier this year at the La-Ferté-Alais airshow has visited today (29 August 2009) the Vintage & Veteran Fly-in/Drive in at Lelystad airport.
Event was organized by the Aviodrome Theme Park.
It is very difficult to stop photographing this spectacular plane, but here are just a few shots I made......

I can vaguely remember that a book was published on the Graf Zeppelin!

Warplane Art / Re: Wellington
« on: July 27, 2009, 10:22:15 PM »
Wellington fuselage was a so-called geodetic aluminium construction covered with fabric.
That means it had very little panels! Design was from mr. Barnes-Wallis (inventor of Dam-buster boms)

And that is a nice excuse to keep it unbuilt in the box.
In time it will be a collector's item!

I still have the unbuild TAURO 1/48 scale model with decals for Swiss and Italian AF.
It is a very starge box. Although it looks nice and accurate it looks if fuselage and wings sections were made by different manufacturers.
Purchased the kit some 15 years ago and I don't know if TAURO still exisits.

Combat Warplanes / Le Bourget: 45 years of 'progress'
« on: June 25, 2009, 09:33:53 PM »
Last Saturday (20 June) I visited the Salon Aeronautique at Le Bourget.
The Salon was started in 1909 and that means it celebrates its 100th birthday!
Unfortunately there was very little news; only new plane of significance was the Sukhoi Superjet 100.
Just to show that progress is not always as fast as we think these two photos give a very nice overview:
The Grumman Hawkeye as exhibited by the U.S. Navy this year and the same Grumman Hawkeye exhibited almost 45 years ago in 1965 (my first visit to Le Bourget!).
Even location where I took both photos is the same; only the background is changed with the C-141 Cargomaster replaced by the C-17 Globemaster!!!
A full report with many photos will be placed on the website!

Javier,

Received your payment today. Book will be posted tomorrow.
Sorry, I have no E-mail at the moment (I seem to be an 'unknown user' at my provider for some obscure reason).
Lost Internet also a couple of days, but that is now restored I hope.
