Yes, this is a fascinating subject. The photos don't lie if enough of them come to light! :-clap

When I was still an active competitive modeler I was sometimes tasked with judging the aircraft categories at IPMS events. Invariably some "expert" judge would be complaining and crying about the "inaccurate" colors or patterns on the Luftwaffe models. Funny thing is that I never saw any of his perfect models in the time I knew him......... :-crazy :-paper

I also have several unbuilt kits to pick from, including a nice Ki-45 that was part of my antique store acquisition. The glory of it is that I know which boxes all of them are in!

That'll be an interesting project but I'll have to watch from the sidelines--no such kit in my "inventory".

A thought--could we also open the Japan GB in May and run it through the summer months?

Welcome aboard, Vini, and a wonderful build for your first post! :-love It's good to see another LLL member from "our" side of the Atlantic Ocean, too.

I've tried and tried, but joining chassis to the bodywork was as problematic as setting the decals... And again it was sent to the box, this time missing trash bin by mere inches... I was really :-kr, and again have to cool down... :-paper

I once finished a Winston Cup model down to the Dayglo orange paint. I destroyed it trying to paint that stuff and I DID send the body to the trash receptacle!!! I confess it felt good to do it, too. :-ok Since then I learned how to spray Dayglo, and I was able to keep the finished chassis for a different project.

That looks like it'll be a very nice model when you finish, Profa! I'm glad someone has posted a racing car on the forum so I can slip in this entry. :-clap

I'm not the fastest as I've explained earlier. The black and silver car was started in 1999 and the Target car in 2001. They've been in the boxes since then. :-roll

My reasoning for posting these two old projects on LLL is that Kyle Petty (black car) has a pilot's license and Sterling Marlin (red car) used to own a business jet. :)

A portion of the decals have gone on the FAA bird. Hopefully it'll be complete by this weekend.

Yep. I have parts of an original-issue 1/48 Tamiya Buffalo in my spares boxes. I don't know what happened to the fuselage and wing or I'd try to restore it........ :-/

The picture Srecko placed is spot-on, the best reference for your paint work! Good luck with finishing this nice little bird! I did mine some 10 years ago, it's still a nice little kit to look at!

Thanks for the confirmation! I'm thinking about a Buffalo to keep the Interceptor company on the shelf, also. ;)

I sprayed the undersides in MM aluminum and sealed it to achieve the correct aluminum lacquer finish used on the real airplane. I've also chosen the ship number I'll be applying, CW-348.

I'm a fan of the Crusader, too! This looks like a great kit--is the intake ducting/nose gear well part of the Academy kit or an aftermarket part?

A fellow I used to work with was the crew chief on an F-8 in VF-24, the last U.S.Navy Squadron to fly the Crusader in the fighter role. He really liked maintaining the airplane with the exception of the hydraulic systems. He said if it wasn't leaking there wasn't any fluid in the system.....

I dabbed on some of the white vinegar and the decal is reacting exactly as it would have with Microsol. I realized when I opened the vinegar bottle that it even smells pretty similar. :-think

Thanks, No.1, for the tip!
