Hello

I spend a lot of time studying the He 162 , this will be , probably, a new book project in the near future.

For the rivets  .

It depends of the manufacturer , what is visible is the putty lines throught the thin layer of paint . The team which restored the He 162 in Paris confirmed it to me putty on Rostock built He 162 (batch 120...) was found everywhere on the fuselage to seal all what can be sealed .

On the other hand the rivets  are visible on the engine cowling ,  I agree with you . I saw them .

On the tail plane (another sub-assembly ) , the rivets are sealed with a sort of tape , I can see it clearly .

In any way the drawing you made is nice .

On He 162 , the stencils are funny , some are hand painted some painted with a template .

Please find 2 new pictures I own .

Hello

thanks for the comments .

I use pen tool but not for the overall shape of the aircraft . as I said it was just a test bed to explore all tools . Now I will begin seruiously working on it , much detailled  and precise .

Another note I forgot yesterday

Do not represent rivets on the fuselage , there are NO visible rivets , all of them are covered with putty . You can represent  the putty line in shadow.highlught , but that is all . I notice it on all He 162 I was able to see (photos or restored machines )

All the best

Dear All

Here is my first drawing , after studying the techniques explained in the two major posts above .

Many thanks first to Srecko , who spent time to comment my first test off line

All comments are wellcome , consider this drawing as a test bed for me to try to find the way I will  build my detailled profile of Fw 190D-9.

Rows of rivets are not represented but now I know how to draw them .

I do not apply any markings , but it was not useful for my first step . is is just new layers to add .

All the best

Eric

Very Nice profiles

But your RLM81 is too much red  look at real RLM81 applied on a restored He 162 (the colour hue is confirmed and correct) .

Hello Srecko

No the very earlu machine had a RLM 76§83/75 camouflage , which turns progressvely to RLM76/82/83  that means that machines like W.Nr 210102 had 4 paints on the fuselage and wings RLM 76/75/82/83

You will see in the book

Hello all of you

Srecko , I am pleased to see that the information I gave you concerning Focke Wulf built Fw 190D-9s  was useful for you to draw this nice  rofile .

As We wrote in our book there were 4 different painting scheme for the under surfaces

W1 all undersurfaces in RLM76 (or green-blue)
W2 Leading hedge + ailerons  in RLM76 (or green-blue) the rest of the wing being left in natural metal
W3 Leading hedge  in RLM 75 + ailerons  in RLM76 (or green-blue) the rest of the wing being left in natural metal
W4 Leading hedge  in RLM 75 , rest of the wing in in RLM76 (or green-blue)  not often seen

We saw via several wrecks that Focke Wulf factories , applied RLM83/RLM82 painting scheme very early , for example W.Nr 210102 found in Waasmunster in Belgium , had a camouflage scheme on upper surface in RLM82/RLM83 . Fuselage was RLM82/RLM83/RLM75.

The most imporant information we found was that the fuselage , and under-surfaces were not painted in ONE variant of RLm76 , but in SEVERAl variant of RLM 76 , . One tone or another one was applmied on part produced by different sub contractors . It is clearly visible on the extension part on the fuselage , even on black and white photos .

I have included one of the drawing of the book , it will be easily understandable .

Nice site in any way
