The little fighter is finished but I ran out of time for decent photos. I'll get some pictures taken tomorrow with any luck.

The decals are putting up a struggle, but patience is winning out so far. Once the film detaches from the backing paper these are beautiful and lay down very nicely even on the corrugated wing surfaces.

Looking great as usual!

I just discovered yet another way to represent the color of the exhaust ring that No.1 mentioned . I've started using MM Metalizer Exhaust or Burnt Metal with Brass mixed in to change the tone as needed.

Can't wait to see the final product of this thread!

Yep, and I sprayed the decal sheet with clear lacquer to help rejuvenate the images. This will be the first time I use a decal sheet that had gotten wet while in the box so I'm expecting a little difficulty.

The two test decals have worked so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

In the first photo you can (barely) see some of the enhancements to the fuselage. I made a set of boarding grips just forward of the cockpit opening from brass wire. The two long white strips are splice doublers that are fairly prominent on the original airplane and I fashioned these from .005" sheet styrene. The rudder horns, linkage, and fairings were fabbed from styrene and little pieces of wire.

Today I managed to paint the airplane and tonight the clearcoat was applied.

My mouth is watering after going to the DACO website, Daniel........what a beautiful collection of decal sheets. Not only are the aircraft sets fantastic but the letter/numeral sheets are a great thing.

As for the Cutting Edge sheet, I've been through my local shop's discontinued decal bin and had no luck. He has stock of some Cutting Edge products but it seems I am too late for this sheet. I'll keep looking, though.

Thirty years :-clap Long term preparation :-ok

It's not exactly the right interior color, either, but don't tell anyone....... ;) I'm building this just for the fun of it.

Sall, this is a typical Monogram kit from that era, with pretty nice molded in detail, at least enough to make it "busy" looking if you wish to build an out-of-the-box kit. Some of the boxes and fire extinguishers are quite flat and scratchbuilt/resin/photoetch parts would be a plus, but it is a fairly relaxing model to build as-is.

Fuselage halves, then joining of the major sections. I'd forgotten how quickly this kit can be assembled, especially when the interior had been painted thirty years prior....... :-jump

Yup, but we do need to do a MiG 21 build sometime in the future. One of the most important and widely used fighters deserves our "Group" attention! :-ok This will give me time to acquire a better kit than the old IMC clunker I have here.

On the subject of the Mig 21, I almost talked another modeler (more of a collector, I should say) into selling me a 1/48 NeOmega F13 conversion but he decided to keep it.......... :-wall :-wall So close!

Just thought I'd suggest a slight change of the order for our G.B. schedule. Since the MiG 21 for August hasn't begun, and it's almost the middle of the month, we might wish to reschedule this important machine for early next year. We can let the rest of the schedule carry on as listed earlier and allow the July build to continue.

While I'm on the subject of the Group Builds, does anyone have a lead for some 1/48 Dutch or Belgian F-84 decals? I've got two F models and a G and I would like to do something other than a USAF bird for at least one or more of them. Thanks in advance!
