So far this is my contribution:

This cockpit tub and the canopy sections in the background were part of an old build and are all that survived. I may use them to save time if the cockpit cleans up sufficiently.

Thank you for those photos, No.1. There is much to learn about every airplane, but I don't know of a machine that has been studied and documented as thoroughly as the '109.

I managed to spray the theatre bands and wingtips this evening and got the rudder done on the Ga-4 also.

Also I managed to pour some new resin wheels for the Ga-4 and to replace a missing one on one of the old builds. The Romanian example I'm modeling has the wing bulges for the later style wheels but the spoked style wheels were fitted.

Profa,

Here is the "formula" I came up with for the Verde: Model Master Dark Green FS34079 with a few drops of black to darken it. This may not be needed on a 1/72 model but I darkened mine to approximately FS34083.

Marrone: Seven parts MM Military Brown FS30117, three parts Insignia Red FS31136. Perhaps 6.5 to 3.5 or so, it just depends.

Scott

I grew up on a farm and my father and older sisters used horses to herd cattle. By the time I was old enough to start riding the sisters were married and no more horses for dad.

The airplane is looking great! I'll send along my color mix for you to try for the green/maroon if you'd like.

(A confession--I bought another Classic Airframes Cr.42 today :-roll One is not enough!  :)))

Okay, I would like the info. I had very little to go on with this other than some line drawings.

I'll be doing a couple of old Monogram F-84Fs. This first one will be either in Belgian or Dutch colors. No.1 sent me the Dutch roundels :-ok and I have a very old sheet from a Heller RF-84F. We'll see how it goes as to what markings end up on the airplane. Also there is a straight-wing Tamiya kit in the storage if time permits.

I ended up scratchbuilding the camera installation metalwork on the bottom of the F. All three are ready for some painting of theatre bands, etc.--now to find the time!

Thanks, y'all. :-flo

As you can notice, the shadows were getting long when I finished this painting. I like to spray such patterns in the sunlight so I can see better. It took almost longer to get done than the available daylight. I do my painting in the garage and the overhead lights are alright for simple painting, but not this freehand stuff.

I set the upper wing on just for fun. This won't be finally attached until after the decals are on but I wanted to see how it looked.

No, that was an just a copy of the C1 camouflage pattern from this website: http://www.stormomagazine.com/RegiaAeronauticaColorsinWWII_3a.htm
I had to decide whether the particular airplane I'm building was painted in the C1 or C1A schemes so I printed out the pattern for reference.

Painting the green and maroon took almost two hours if you count the coffee breaks.

After several cups of coffee and a day of chores my mind was clear :-cool. First the Verde Mimetico 3, then the beginnings of the Marrone Mimetico 2. I mixed both colors from MM paints and several color sample sources.

I've got a good bit of the manuscript finished for a book about the Nebraska airfields. Many hours of research and visiting with some of the men and women who served on the bases.
