I can remember that B-45 was well represented in vacform kit since Revell, Airfix etc. were never interested in this 'limited production'! Too bad; B-45 was U.S. first jet bomber and definitely worth modelling....
The French MACH models has a limited production B-45 at 1/72 scale and at 1/48 scale there is a release of Collect-Air (if you want it, start saving money!).

Green colours are always described as 'Old leaf' and 'Young leaf'!
Undersides were alu paint. Buffalo and Hawk had similar schemes.
In some sources a dark green/dark earth scheme is given, but this is incorrect!'Young leaf' is roughly similar to FS34092 (Humbrol H-149). 'Old leaf' must be FS4079 or Humbrol H-163.

Portugal received from the UK a small number of Hawks (called Mohawks by the British) as thanks for using their harbours and airports by the UK. There still was a regular airline between Lisboa and Croydon during the war!
Also merchand and passenger ships had regular routes from UK to Portugal and back.
It was not without risk. Some ships were torpedoed by U-boats and some civil aircraft were shot down or damaged by German fighters.

It seems we modellers are always surrounded by Quantum Black Holes!
It is the only explanation why small parts that fall out of our fingers on the floor disappear mysteriously///

According to Dan Hagedorn from NASM the name 'Demon' was never officially used neither by Army Air Corps, nor by Curtiss . It seems it was 'invented' much later by aviation reporters.
By the Dutch in Netherlands Eas Indies it was know as the 'Interceptor' for very obvious reasons!
In spite of its very high rate of climb the plane was an operational failure because of its light construction. Fighters that did much better were the Curtiss Model 75 Hawk and the Brewster Buffalo.
Last was taken up in a book called 'The World's worst aircraft' but in fact it did very well. It was not a high performer, but it was of very rugged construction and could absorb a lot of punishment. Also Finnish pilots rated the Buffalo as a good fighter!

Seems new idea of old concept!
One small problem: how do you defend this huge monster against enemy aircraft and missiles?
At 6000 m it even seems a sitting duck for enemy groundfire.
