Great set of images No.1.

Below are a number of shots of BAE Hawks, these were entered into this years RAF Photographic Competition and taken by fellows members of my trade (Photographer)
I had the honour of running this years competition and it told just three months to gett running, judging and then the prize giving with the Chief of the Air Staff on the 12th Oct at the RAF Club in London. Now its all over I can get back to my normal day to day tasking, I wish.  :-help :-jump

Hi Wingman, this is the only example in the world flying  :-clap :-clap A major problem is it is not owned by the RAF it is in private hands and as such it costs a lot of money to keep it flying, so it could be grounded at any time  :(

That's the problem when you start to look at the longer lenses and zooms, the size and the weight.

The large lens is the Nikon 400mm F2.8 VR, I have to purchase one for one of the stattions over £6,000  :-eek :-eek

I am offered by our local photo shop a huge Sigma 80-400 zoom with optical stabilizer for My Nikon D70S for a price of EURO 695.
It seems a perfect match for airshow photographing.
Is there anyone out there with practical experiences?

I have a Nikon 80 - 400 with OS, Nikon call it VR, some of the imagery take at Waddington Airshow were with my 80-400

A number of the ground shots were taken with a Nikon 17-35mm lens.

In the UK the Sigma 80-400mm can be purchased for around £700

Here are some of the images I took during the 2010 RAF Waddington Airshow, I was unable to stay to the very end  :-flo My daughter was feelling ill and it was a long drive home. But I still had a great day. They say that 105,000 people were there on the day I went!  :-dal
