Yay, Second Air Force!!! And this airplane was stationed not far from where we live down at Barksdale AFB. In fact, it's still there, I think--but it was later renamed.

Latest progress on this   s  l  o  w   build. Next up will be some weathering, then installing of the engine. Maybe I'll get it done by winter next year...…..

Good photo of the way the BUFF was built. I think that bunch of raised-head rivets is an area that was modified over the years and countersunk rivets eliminated to strengthen the structure. The B-52 has always been worked hard and structure suffered when they were used at low-level.

Thank you mate :)) wing root is interesting as there is variations.

Yes, every airplane wrinkles just a little differently in that area. What most people who fly don't know is that some Boeing jetliners also have these wrinkles on them, just not as pronounced as the B-52. Our airplanes used to be in NMF and the wrinkles were easy to see after a fresh buffing job, especially behind the wing on the 757.
