Miscellaneous Subjects / Citroën Traction Avant 15-6, Heller, 1/8
« on: October 04, 2015, 06:13:23 PM »
Hello  :-salut

The masterpiece of Heller : the Citroën 15-6 "Traction avant" car (Traction avant signifies that the front wheels were tracting the car).
This kit is in 1/8 scale and is made of nearly 1,000 parts as per the real car. It was issued in 1977 and I built it the same year. Color is Humbrol 21 Black (Spray can)
The immatriculation number is the same than that of my father's car (Citroën 11N Familiale) of the same era (1956).

Engineering scale is interesting :)

In the 1950s, 1/40 scale was chosen for space vehicles and missiles.

Hello  :-salut :-salut

The buiding notice :

This kit has been in the making for a long time because of the difficulty to reproduce the interior of the cockpit originally left empty by Heller. For so doing I had to cut out the canopy in parts in order to be able to introduce it by the front... Originally the manner chosen by Heller to mount the canopy avoided them to reproduce the interior.

Hello  :-salut

Here is the old Airfix kit issued in 1968. This is a good base demanding some improvement, particularly the fin outline.

Hello  :-salut

Nex photographs of my second Blohm und Voss BV 141 B. This is actually the BV 141 B-1, WNr 0210018, Skz GK+GH, found as a wreck at the end of WW2 at Wenzendorf.
The kit is basically good but must be improved particularly the propeller and the BMW 801 engine by adding the fan behind the propeller. The interior (not visible on pictures) is complete including armament. I paid particularly attention to the balance device of the ailerons.
Built in 2002.

Hello  :-salut

This kit, the MB 152 C1, was issued in 1967 by Heller. I built it the same year following information known at the time and finished with Humbrol basic paints... and "from the box" except for the shortening of the u/c legs by 3 mm ans an extra decal sheet from Max Abt.

Hello  :-salut :-salut

Another old kit issued in 1959 by Revell... Re-issued in the early 1980s as "History makers" kits.
That was the first plane with movables wings in flight drawn from the messerschmitt Me P. 1101 of which the sweep of the wings was settled on the ground before flight...
This kit has been built in 1989.

Hello  :-salut

Here the Aoshima kit of the Bell P-63A Kingcobra, a very bad kit, issued in the early 1960s... I modified it into a P-63C-5 which belonged to the Armée de l'air at GC Normandie-Niémen. The "Kingcobras" which replaced the NC-900s...
I improved also all the kit which is very basic but the dimensions are good.

Aircraft Modeling / Bell P-39Q Airacobra, Heller, 1/72
« on: October 04, 2015, 10:53:44 AM »
Hello  :-salut

Here is the kit of Bell P-39Q Airacobra by Heller in 1/72 scale.
The kit is enough accurate and demands only a little correction of the outline of the top of the nose from spinner to the windshield which more flatter on the real "thing".
There is achoice between a P-39N of the Pacific Theater and a French Armée de l'air P-39Q of the CPC (Centre de perfectionnement à la chasse) at Meknès (Marocco)in 1945-1946. The spinner is given yellow by Heller but I didn't remember why I didn't paint it this color... Built in April 1983.

« on: October 04, 2015, 10:42:23 AM »
Hello  :-salut

Here are two dinky kits of one of the smallest airplanes in the world...
The kit is from LS in 1/72 scale and was issued in 1983 at the time of the issue of James Bond's movie "Octopussy". James Bond used the jet version under the name "Microstar".
The two versions are in the same box which contains about 20 plastic parts (including two canopies and two parts for the stand) and one decal sheet with 3 different markings including an aerobatic team... There are also markings for a USAF plane in SEA camouflage.

Aircraft Modeling / Avro Lancaster B. II, Airfix, 1/72 (2013)
« on: October 04, 2015, 10:25:48 AM »
Hello  :-salut :-salut

The "new tool" Airfix's Lancaster B. II. I always liked this version with its radial engines (Bristol Hercules VI or XVI). This version was a response to the foreseen shotage of Rolls Royce Merlin XX engines. 300 Lancaster B. II were built.
The kit is sound but long to build due to the numerous parts. Some tiny details are reproduced but, surprisingly, the navigation light must be scratch-built...  :-think
There are some errors in the building notice. Decals are of good quality and are better applied with decal softener as Tamiya's one.

Here is the "1311" :
