Aircraft Modeling / Bell P-39N Airacobra, Monogram, 1/48 (1969)
« on: October 12, 2015, 05:45:33 PM »
Hello,

A French Bell P-39N Airacobra of GC 1/4 "Navarre" in 1944.
This is the Monogram kit (1969) in 1/48 scale. This kit has a story. One of my friends begun to build it but abandonned it and wanted to throw it... I recovered and finished it... That was in 1979.

Hello,

The Airfix's Avro Anson I modified Avro 652 A Anson used by Escadrille de Police et de Surveillance (EPS) 2/82, based at Bamako, in 1943. Kit built in April 1980... Livery and modifications made after photographs. There is an error in the serial-number which was actually EG952.

Aircraft Modeling / Arado Ar 96 B-1, Armée de l’air, Heller, 1/72
« on: October 12, 2015, 05:30:41 PM »
Hello,

Here is an airplane used by the Armée de l'air just after WW2 (Total of 88 examples, 19 were still in service in 1949). Those planes were collected at Leck by the BAFO (British Air Forces of Occupation) and transferred by air to France by French pilots. One was lost en route.
They had been quickly repainted in Germany RLM 02 all around. The white markings were for training aircraft at Cognac from 1947 to 1949.
This is the Heller kit.

The hole behind the engine cowling was for the stater cranck :

Hello,

I thought the color of the pilot's seat was more brownish.
Otherwise, it's excellent work.

Hello mate :-salut

Very good work.
1/144 scale is good for relative big planes but some are really too small and seem to be seen from a too long distance.

Me too I built that kit a long time ago, I was an afficionado of Matchbox kits!

Hello :-salut

Biplanes from Matchbox were particularly good (Walrus, Swordfish, Fury, etc. Other kits were not of constant quality but were often good to very good bases such as Me 410, Bf 110 C, A-20G, F2A...

Aircraft Modeling / Messerschmitt Bf 109 H V55, Pegasus, 1/72
« on: October 07, 2015, 04:03:52 PM »
Hello :-salut

An old kit from Pegasus in 1/72 scale : Bf 109 H V55. This prototype was representative of the Bf 109 H-1 series. The wings are those of the Me 209-II. This plane was a competitor against the Ta 152 H but had no chance to win the competition... in spite of the fact that Willy Messerschmitt did all what was possible to win...

Aircraft Modeling / Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6/AS (Mtt), Revell, 1/48
« on: October 07, 2015, 03:51:37 PM »
Hello :-salut

Some decades ago (exactly in July 1989) I modified Revell's Bf 109 G-10 (issued in1978 !) into a Bf 109 G-6/AS. But not completely because I kept the big wheel fairings on the uppersurfaces and that's not accurate...  :-red  The stains of the engine are in true soot collected on the blade of a knife from a candle and brushed on the mat paint. Spinner always freehand-painted.
This model represents a plane of 7./JG 1 at Anklam in the fall of 1944. The plane is painted RLM 76 all around with standard markings, including the red fuselage band of the JG 1 which was part of the Reichsluftverteidigung (Air defense of the German territory). The engine fumes

Aircraft Modeling / Mikoyan & Gurevitch MiG 15, North Korea, Airfix, 1/72
« on: October 06, 2015, 11:31:50 PM »
Hello, :-salut

The last kit of the MiG 15 by Airfix. It seems it's not generally better than the KP's one... I had to change the wheels which are too small. Engraved panel and structure lines are too much broad and harms the final result. It would be, in such a case, better to have lines of structure in relief, to sandpaper and re-engrave them.

Aircraft Modeling / Messerschmitt Me 410 A-1/U4 Hornisse, Matchbox, 1/72
« on: October 06, 2015, 11:20:54 PM »
Hello :-salut

An old kit but accurate. I built in 1976. The Messerschmitt Me 410 A-1/U4 by Matchbox. It was better than the one of Frog and far better than the one of Lindberg...
Spinners color is strange but not impossible...

The camouflage scheme is drawn from a photograph but the colors are probably wrong. Nowadays I should use RLM 74/75/76 colors. The unit insigna for ZG 26 on the fusealge was not on the decal sheet and comes extra decals.
I added the cinecamera on the nose.

Interesting, the same decals I used on Hasegawa kit many years ago ;) In that time most correct 1/72 scale kit was from Airfix

That are Hasegawa decals.   :))   :-wise
Previous Airfix's Bf 109 E had a too narrow fuselage... Apart from this sad detail, the kit was well detailed.
