You remember well.

Miscellaneous Subjects / Chrysler Turbine Car, Jo Han kit, 1/25
« on: October 13, 2015, 05:11:23 PM »
Hello,

A very old kit of one of some turbine cars made in USA. This one was from Chrysler. 55 were produced and tested by privileged customers. After the test was finished those cars were to be rendered Chrysler and destroyed. It is said that 9 specimens are still existing including 3 in operating condition.
The kit was issued in the late 1950s and I remember well the box on the shelves when I was still a teenager...

Aircraft Modeling / Curtiss XP-55 Ascender, MPM, 1/72, 1992
« on: October 13, 2015, 04:54:17 PM »
Hello,

An experimental plane which was a part of "non conventional aircraft" programm comprising P-54, P-55, P-56. None was retained for mass production because it was considered it was better to keep what was already produced, such as P-47 and P-51.
The MPM kit issued in 1992 has some inaccuracies which demand to be corrected... It is not easy to build.

Hello,

Here is the land-version of the SOC-3, originally a floatplane. This is the Hasegawa kit issued in the early 1970s (Maybe even in 1970 ?). This version was proposed in a different box with specific parts replacing the floats:

letters and figures are from a Microscale (now Superscale) decal sheet and the "Star and Bar" markings from a Max Abt decal sheet. Kit built before 1978.

Hello,

here is a floatplane not often seen in model kit, the Curtiss SOC-3 Seagull (Hasegawa, 1/72 kit). Painted with "Humbrol Authentic Paints". The markings are not those of the box. Built before 1978.

Aircraft Modeling / Curtiss P-40F Warhawk, Hasegawa, 1/72
« on: October 13, 2015, 11:03:20 AM »
Hello,

The P-40N of Hasegawa modified into a Curtiss P-40F Warhawk of the French Armée de l'Air. I chose this kit because of the elongated fuselage, a caracteristic feature of the F version. That plane was to be seen during the "14 Juillet" ceremony at Algiers-Maison Blanche in 1944. Contrary to what has been often written spinners were not red and the proof has been given by a color photograph taken during this ceremony. This date marked the rebirth of the Armée de l'air. The unit is GC La Fayette (two words in french language ans one word "Lafayette" for the Americans). The rendering of the undersurfaces "Azure Blue" by the digital picture is not good... Too flashy.

Aircraft Modeling / Convair F-106A Delta Dart (Revell 1/67, 1957)
« on: October 13, 2015, 10:46:00 AM »
Hello :-salut

Here is the Revell's Convair F-106A Delta Dart issued in 1957. It is not in 1/72 scale but 1/67... The panel and structure lines are engraved  That was not unusual although not often seen on kits of this era. Marking locations are also engraved... .
The markings are those of an early F-106A.

Hello,

Built from the box in the late 1960s... The kit has lost its antenna mast. Painted with "Humbrol Authentic Paints" which no more exist...
Some time ago I found an example of this kit and have the project to build it...

Hello,

Good project.
Fuselage cutting is surprising but very astute. Régiment "Normandie" had some of those machines.
